Remove radio and fit a decent one. use the money vw would charge to recode it to buy a cd player with warranty. buy/borrow the two keys to remove the gamma

Take the vehicle to a VW dealer and they will correct it by getting the radio code and entering into the radio.

In my 200 vw beetle tdi, the radio will not turn on. the fuse is good for the radio, so what else should i try

You need to remove the radio out from the dashboard using special removal VW radio Gamma keys. In the rear face of the unit is placed a fuse (red color) = 10 Amp. Replace blown fuse with a new one. Then you will need to exit the radio out from the security "SAFE" mode.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
You must have the security anti-theft code for your VW radio from the car manufacturer, or from an Volkswagen dealer!

You can find the radio code at: http://www.radio-code.co.uk/
tdisline_701.jpg
The sequence of programming for a 2000 VW Beetle radio Gamma is:
1. Push simultaneous "SCAN" and "RDM" keys until on the screen will appear "1000" displayed.
2. Release keys. No more push on "SCAN" and "RDM" keys because otherwise number "1000" will be considered as first safe code attempt.
For example: we have the security code "5079". Then:
3. By the no.# 1 key you will set up the first safe code digit. Push 5 times on the no.# 1 button. The "5" number will be setted.
4. By the no.# 2 key you will set up the second safe code digit. Push 10 times on the no.# 2 button. The "0" number will be setted.
5. By the no.# 3 key you will set up the third safe code digit. Push 7 times on the no.# 3 button. The "7" number will be setted.
6. By the no.# 4 key you will set up the four-th safe code digit. Push 9 times on the no.# 4 button. The "9" number will be setted.
7. Then push again simultaneous "SCAN" and "RDM" keys for confirm this safe code. On the screen will be displayed "SAFE" notice. Release keys! For few seconds a radio frequence will be displayed.
The radio is now ready for use!

Im looking for the raido code for my vw golf,,,, i changed the battery the other day and i need the code for the radio to work ,,, does any 1 no where i could get the code ..... its a gamma radio serial...

If it is a factory radio, you can contact a VW dealer(I think you need the VIN# also)and they will provide the code for free.Write down the code and method because anytime the battery gets disconnected that will happen and it does get disconnected for some problem checkouts other than battery or alternator.
Good luck! Greg

Hi, problem with 2007 VW Citi Golf radio security code.

The radio is in Lock-Out mode. You only get two attempts to enter the code, then it enters Lock-Out mode.
Put the key in ignition and turn on the radio for an hour (maybe a bit more). The radio should reset itself after about an hour and then you can re enter the code.

Vw golf .... alpha...... safe 2

"2 safe" means that your radio was in safe mode, and then the code was improperly entered 2 times. you either need to disconnect your battery and leave it for up to 4 hours (i've been told), or leave your key in the ignition for around an hour.

once it comes out of "2 safe" mode, then it will just say SAFE and give you the numbers 1-0-0-0. You just need to enter the 4 digit code (using your pre-set numbers 1-2-3-4 to change the numbers), then hold the seek > button and your radio should come on.

If you don't have the code, call VW. they'll find your code for free. they did for me. if not they'll charge like $50 or something.

After dis connecting the battery I do not know the security code for the radio in my 99 VW Golf

Each radio code is unique to each vehicle.

I would suggest you contact your nearest VW dealer.

My guess is that you will need to take your vehicle registration papers and drivers licence to the dealer and pay a small fee (say $15.00) and they should be able to give you the code off the VW computer network to the HQ. Using the vehicle chassis serial number and your proof of ownership and proof of you, should be enough information. The chassis number is on the registration papers.
