Motor started knocking this morning noise is loud while driving when I speed up the knocking speeds up and the same when I slow down and the knocking noise sumtimes stop when I bring tahoe to complete...

I would guess that you have a failed big end bearing. The slipper turning in the conrod cap will give a knock and at the sametime block of the oil hole which allows you to keep up the oil pressure. Drain the oil and check for shiny specks or bits of metal in the oil. If you have a magnetic sump plug check for fragments on the magnet

Idle adjustment on 96 jeep 4.0

There is no idle speed adjustment. Do you have any fault codes in the PCM memory? Does the engine have any vacuum leaks, that will cause a high idle, use a can of carburetor spray and spray around the intake manifold, if the engine idle speed changes you have a leak and have found the problem. You could also have a sticking automatic idle speed control valve in the throttle body.

What are the symptoms of a speed sensor going bad on a 1997 jeep grand cherokee laredo 6 cyl.

Since alot of things rely on data from the speed sensor you will "usually" get an ABS alarm, little or no shifting,no indication of speed on the speedometer, and the check engine light. without the abs light and with a speed indicated I would lean toward a transmission problem

From 62-70 mph the rear end of the car gets so loud you can't talk over it. no "clunks or thunks" just gets loud - sorta like a kitchen mixer turned to high speed, only much louder. Don't...

Hello, Thought to have the differential lube checked? I had a 1994 Crown Vic and it had 161,000 miles on it when I sold it.

Although you need to reduce the overall speed, try turning your Overdrive button off and see if the noise goes away. The overdrive kicks in above 42MPH and if that is when your car starts to grind, its a good possibility for trouble.

Aside from that, the 3rd and 4th gear synchronizers or gears could be going. You could pull off the trans pan and see how much metal is in the pan.

You won't be going much longer if it is making this noise. Also try car-parts.com for Salvaged parts. It has an instant request feature and gives pricing, location, warranty, and contact info for all types of parts.

When I start my 96 Camaro Z28 there is a loud clank sound that happens only once. Still Starts. It only happens on start-up and is pretty loud.

the starter may need to be shimmed. could be the drive gear is getting hung up on the flywheel and when engine speeds up it slams it back

Whats wrong my abs light is on, my brake light is on and my speedometer nor odometer are working? 2004 jeep grand cherokee larado 6 cyl 4.0 liter

here is the short version...

the vehicle speed sensor is actual an interpreted signal from the ABS module and the ABS module uses the wheel speed sensors

therefore, if the ABS module sees a problem with any sensor it will affect the PCM input for vehicle speed

another possibility, but worst case, is the ABS module has failed

in either case you will need a professional scan tool to monitor actual wheel speed versus PCM vehicle speed
