Question about 2006 Ford Taurus

2006 ford taurus ?ignition/ electrical?

Recently I would go to start the car - turn on the ignition and nothing- no noise just nothing, then I would re-try and it would start and run with no problems. Did this inconsistently for few weeks- took it to ford dealer and they could find nothing wrong(it has 34,000 miles on it. I had a 3 year with 35,000mile warranty- which i was told was over June 15th- I had it looked at June 22nd thinking I had one more year on warranty!). Anyway couple days later I was driving with toddler grandson and car just died in middle of road! Luckily I was going slow and no damage done! The car re-started a few minutes later. I am now afraid to drive it as it could be very dangerous if it just dies on a thruway... . Taking it back to dealer to put back on computer. Is there a history of similar problems with 2006 taurus?

I had the same problem every time I go to start the car when i turn on the ignition nothing happend no noise just nothing, then I would re-try and it would start and run with no problems, but sometimes when I'm driving the vehicle when suddenly the engine just died. Is doing this inconsistently for few daysI took it to ford dealer and they could find nothing wrong. Itook the vehicle and went to Advance Auto Parts they plug The computer and told me that was the Fuel Rail Sensor so I took the vehicle and went to the dealer when the vehicle was still on Warranty told this them leave the car at the dealer and a few days later pick up the vehicle for a few days the vehicle run with no problems but started again to do the same thing. If you find a solution to this problem please email me at sammydhs@gmail.com.

    Thanks

Did you ever get that fixed? My daughter has been driving a car for nearly 2 years that dies as she is driving. They still cannot find any error code in the computer. Engine lights go on, all power fails, radio, etc. Then it is gone but starts right back up. It now has happened twice in the morn going to work nearly causing a wreck because it is dark and can't see where she is going.

It has only had the starting problem a few times. I am more concerned for her driving on a busy highway when power fails. Just got out of the shop and turned out another one there at th same time diong the same thing. Still can't tell what is wrong...I am going to check tomorrow as this is a safety issue and might be able to do something under lemon law. It is a 2006 Taurus but the probem started right after she got it. Trying to get hold of records on it as it was bought with under 10,000 miles on it so there might be more records of problems.

Would apprecite it if you would tell me anything.

My 2006 Taurus is behaving in a similar but different fashion. At random times the car will not start. No noise at all and then in a couple of minutes it will start right up and run fine. Ive noticed there seems to be a correlation when I push the power door lock button and hear a sick sort of chime thjat the car wont start. No one can seem to find the problem. It has not shut off while driving. It does seem there is something going on between the driver side power door lock and the starting.

Car wont start when cold have replace starter switch battery and altenator and starter, have used grismer tire and repair with no fix yet what am i not doing right

You would change the fuel filter, crank sensor and run a can of fuel injector cleaner in a tank of gas, you may also want to remove the Throttle Body cover, get a can of carb cleaner and spray the heck out of the TB do this while running throttleing it, dont let it idle, it will die out on you.

Keep in mind that the starting problems typically come from problems with the battery, starter, fuel pump, or ignition. Checking these things in your Ford Taurus can be done with a few automotive tools. Once you have isolated the problem, you can decide to fix it yourself or take it to a professional:
1. Place the key in the ignition and turn to the "On" position. The dashboard on your Taurus should light up. If it does not, it indicates that there is a problem with your battery.
2. Open the hood of your Taurus and check the battery for corrosion or loose connections. For corrosion, clean the connections. Tighten any loose connections. Attach a voltmeter to the battery. The red lead goes on the positive terminal and the black on the negative. On a Taurus, 12.5 volts or better are needed to power the car, and between 13.8 to 14.5 to run the alternator. If the voltmeter shows 12.5, then the battery is okay; if it is between 12.5 to 13.8 then the alternator needs to be replaced.
3. Turn the key in the ignition. If you hear a clicking noise, your starter is faulty and needs replacing. If there is no noise, the ignition switch could be the culprit.
4. Turn the key in the ignition on and off for three seconds, then on again. Listen to the Taurus. In a Ford Taurus, the fuel pump operates for only two seconds. When the key is turned on, you should hear a sound similar to a growl or "rrr." If you do not hear the sound, your fuel pump is not working properly to send fuel through your car.
5. Remove a spark plug from your Taurus and lay the wire to a metal surface. If there is no spark, the engine is not igniting properly, and you need new spark plugs.

How to install ignition switch cylinder on ford taurus se 2006

Very easy! Right below the ignition lock cylinder on the steering column shroud (bottom) there will be and access hole, you simply turn the switch to the run (not start) position and with a suitible tool push on the release pin while pulling out the cylinder. replacement will require the clinder to be in the run position while being inserted, then to off position and your done!

If the starter needs that much current to start then I would suspect the starter bendix, replace both at the same time.
