-   i have a bmw 318 and my engine light has just came on when i checked the owner hand book it reads exhaust emission values have deteriorated.
how much to fix and where ?

You will get a reduced catalyst efficiency reading after the cat has started failing. Be careful of using an aftermarket cat. BMW cat converters are made for longer life, which is why they are so expensive. I would look online to see if any dealers are selling on ebay. The factory cat comes with the front exhaust portion and is not very hard to install. It is all bolt on.
