Sounds like your idle controll sensor, it most commonly looks like a spark plug, it plugs in to the side of the transmission, near the belle housing. But for now try a quart of lucas oil in your transmission, if that causes it to shift, then your bands are stretched, and most likely need a transmission.

My 89 jeep grand wagoneer started overheating on the highway but the temp stays at 220 if i keep it under 55mph. replaced the fan clutch 7 months ago.

That can be your thermostat that do not open(stuck) when the motor is warm, take that out and drive for a few miles but keep an eye on the heat indicator if the problem still exists then your radiator need a flush. remember a thermostat is for cold conditions, if you saying in a warm area or country that thermostat is not necessary

I just had my 700r4 tranny rebuilt again! The guy I purchased my truck from just had it rebuilt 3 yrs ago. It had a hard second shift and he told me that was from the shift kit they put in it. Well, that...

The throttle valve cable controls the transmission pressure. Adjusting this cable is the most important step when installing a 700R4 or 200R4 transmission.

I never trust rebuilt trannies unless i rebuild them myslef....Beefing up valve bodies sometime leads to premature wear and tear...the kit could be malfuctioning aswell. Chefck fluids and replace the filter in it, if that doesnt fix it, then take it back to the tech, and demand free service :)

89 Wagoneer drives rough

The thing to do now is a fuel pressure test pump could be weak just a few pounds under the recamended pressure will do that weather its mechanical or electrical . Is there a filter in the carb. wear fuel fine hooks? If none of this is an issue at least you can eliminate fuel deliverly as the problem.
