Re fitting door glass to a triumph herald 13/60

it is not a tr8 I only put that because this program wouldn't let me put the correct car which is a 1968 triumph herald 13/60 convertible

The door is freshly painted and there are no fittings or otherwise to remove first, it's just a bare door shell

  • Randal Merlino Jun 25, 2008

    the windows operate manually

  • Randal Merlino Jun 26, 2008

The door is completely devoid of any furniture, its just a painted shell. What I would like to know is, is there a step by step guide on how to fit the door glass, movement, handles etc. Thank you for all the emails so far but interestingly they all say exactly the same!!. How can that be from different experts?

Hi,

To be perfectly honest, you may fine more experts on a Truimph forum such as this one -

http://club.triumph.org.uk/

You would need to fit any window guides first, then check the fit of the winder mechanism. Often the glass and winder mechanism come out together from inside the door panel, and will refit together.

Once in place, concentrate on lock linkages with the window fully up.
Then inner door vapour skin, then inner door card, with the handles and trim fitted last.

Hope this assists.

Pull the door panel off first. You can usually get a tool for this from almost any auto parts store. It looks similar to a pitch fork but it is 2 pieces of metal. They sort of wedge the plastic screws and then they turn out. If the panel is already off and you are wondering how to do it what you will need to do is drill out the rivits from the current window regulator if it has rivits. Then you will line up the glass with the regulator in the up position. Now you will put screws in place of the area that the rivits were in and the glass should be set. Again alot of the hardware needs to be taken off of the door. Good luck and let me know if you have anymore questions.

Thanks - Tech101

Where are the timing marks on a triumph herald 13/60

Timing marks on Triumphs are always (at least for the Herald-based cars-Herald, Vitesse, Spitfire & GT6) on the crankshaft pulley. There is a "pointer", a small triangle of sheet metal tack-welded to the timing chain cover, that acts as the reference point for your timing light.

Fh41825he engine number what cc

The F series engines are from Triumph Spitfires. FH is a 1300cc engine (1296cc) from a Spitfire Mk4. I can't remember if it's a small crank journal engine like the Herald 13/60 GE engine (good) or a large crank (not as good).

Hi, i have a triumph spitfire 4 1963 have recently converted it from pos ground to neg ground ,fitted alternator new plugs points condenser ,coil, car runs for aprox 3 miles then splutters to a halt ,after...

It sounds like you have to fit a ballast resistor in the power supply to the coil or get a 12 volt coil. Later spits (-ve earth) used a 9 volt coil with a resistor to drop the battery volts down when running, when starting the full volts are used but the starter will drop this to 9 or 10 anyway, this helped cold starts.)
