Ac won't hold charge 1997 Mazda b4000

Look at the engine compartment.. look at all the A/C pipes and hoses.. usually when the 134 gas leaks oil comes with it..look for oily deposits.. If you can't see any. there is a new tool at Harbor Freigh tools that will help find your leak.. There is also a can of 134 with "leak detector" in it.. its an oil with red die.. you install it just like installing the gas and then look for the leak with a white towel .. you would be looking for the red color on your towel.. If you buy the tool about the same price as the die you can use it over and over as you have more problems in the future.. When you find the leak repair it .. May just be a bad o - ring or possibly a bad seal in the compressor.. hope for the no-ring its much cheaper..

96 olds cutlass ciera sl wont hold charge with new battery and alternator

Well the charge light means the alternator is not charging the battery.
You would need to get the alternator and circuits tested on the car.
It could be a bad connection somewhere or other wiring problem.

AC system loses charge

cant recall on 96 if it is o-rings or gasket but defineitly has a seal that is now leaking. remove line, replace seal and use an evac. pump to pull a vacume on system. If it holds a vacume without leaking it will hold a charge and you wont waste your freon testing. Plus you should always evac. system before charging anyway

Hi,

The possibilities are too numerous to get into here.

Either take your vehicle to AutoZone for a FREE diagnostic scan or they'll loan you a scanner. This will enable you to pinpoint the problem(s) almost immediately.

All the best,

Ben

Ac wont hold charge compressor shuts off on my 96 cadillac sls

the most likey cause for the leak is a leaking a/c compressor or a leaking evap core located inside the dash board on the passenger side..... the compressor will automatically shut off when the a/c system charge becomes to low since low pressure can damage the system if it is on with a low charge

Ac leaks won't hold charge more than one day.put can of sealer in but it did'nt help.could it be the o-rings.if so how to repair it.

I use a green die to locate the leak in an A/C circuit , not a stop leak sealer..

Yes , the most likely culpriet is an O-ring gone bad.

Part 2...

You can purchase a leak detection kit, which consists of UV goggles and UV light.(black light). You would have to pump some refrigerant from a bottle that has die inside with the refrigerant. They sell those at any autoparts store. You can pump some in , run the AC and check/look with the UV gogles and the light as to where the die is coming out of. With the goggles the die will show flourescent green. Thats, where the leak is. Or you can go to a garage/dealer and they will charge you about $100-$150 to do the same thing. (except they will inject the die with a specialty tool and than look for a leak) Some of the cans of R134 from store have die inside of them already. Read the can label. (the UV die will not hurt the system at all). The UV goggles and the light will run you about $40-50??. As far as repairing the leak, it could be potentially costly or it could be just a o-ring. You will not know until you pin point the leak with the UV die. O-rings are cheap, but something like the AC condensor could be $500. If you saing that the you can hear it in the front of the engine, it could be the condensor which is the radiator looking piece in front of the radiator. You can see it through the front grill, that's the condensor. Like I said, pinpoint the leak and make decisions from there. Let me know how you make out with that. Good luck.
