Question about 2000 Ford Focus

Door won't close - have to try over and over

Every time I try to close the driver's side door - doesn't matter if it is locked or not - it won't close. It seems to do this more in warm weather - on cool days I don't have the problem as much. I can't figure out what the problem is!

I assume you mean that it won't latch. I think the lock mechanism is sticking. With the door open try to flip the latch on the door with your finger. It should make a sharp click. And you should be able to release it with the door handle. Check the passenger side door to get an idea how it should act. If it does not work easily, or does not click, you need to replace it. I think it is a dealer only item.

SOURCE: 2010 Elantra Touring - car won't start -

don't forget to check starter, and ignition switch, otherwise i think John Parker is
right on the money.
I also think that if the shop couldn't find it they shouldn't charge you at all.

2000 cadillac deville driver side won't open with the key

1) Key turns but dose not unlock door. This means that the rod that goes to the back of the lock has came off. This also means that is the reason door is not unlocking with the remote as it pops the lock rod inside the door which pushes the lock open.
2) Key does not turn lock at all but works passengers side door. This means that the locks has been changed in the door, but that doesn't sound like the problem as you say the remote doesn't open the drivers side door so more than likely the rod has came off the back of the lock

1999 mercury villager interior light won't go off.

If the door adjar light is on than you have a bad door switch. They are part of the door latch assembly. It is more common for the drivers side to go bad but it could be anny of them. A scan tool would be helpful in narrowing down which one it is. What you can try is spraying carb or brake cleaner into the part of the door that holds the door shut (the latch). Spray it into every nook and crany in that area. Open and close the door several times will a serving the door adjar light. If it goes out problem solved. If it doesn't go out get it scanned to see which one has failed and then pull that door pannel to inspect. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. The Driver's side door of our 1996 Saturn Stationwagon won't catch when you close the door. In otherwords, if I drove the car, I can close the door but it doesn't catch and therefore the door...

first make sure the bolts which hold the latch mechanism to the door are firmly screwed in. if that ain't it, remove the post which it clamps onto from the door jamb and switch it with one from a back door. close the back door firmly, lock it and never use it again. if that ain't it go to www.getsaturnparts.com and buy yourself a new door latch mechanism and pay an auto glass shop to put it in for you.

The door lock on driver side front doesn't work anymore with the remote, the other doors are working fine on a Lincoln Ls 2004

Try using the Keyless Entry Pad

If that won't open the drivers door,
then you will need a scan tool, to see
if it can comunicate with the DDM -
Drivers Door Module.

That may be a possible problem, if
everything else works

The locking mechanism on the drivers side door,is locked in the closed positin.Cant get door to shut?

cheffenwolfb, What you need to do is to take a screwdriver and put it in the catch in place of the locking striker. Pull the door handle to the open position and pull the locking catch open with the screwdriver. Try the door a few times to be sure that it doesn't do it again. A little lubrication on the catch wouldn't hurt. Good luck with this.
