On my 2010 Toyota Corolla the key occasionally is very hot when I remove it from the ignition. Is there something wrong with the ignition? .The dealer said the Immobilizer makes the key warm, but the key is very hot.

The transponder around the key which reads the chip is what the dealer means ,it should not make it excessively hot but it all depends on the person because as a mechanic i dont feel it as hot but the mrs uses a cloth ,so when it feels hot to you ask someone else to have feel as it may not appear hot to them .unless the heater vent is blowing over the key then i dont see why its should get that hot ,could be fault of the model i suppose but this is the first time i have read about this for this model vehicle

I have a 2010 Toyota Corolla S. The car will turn over and start occasionally but won't stay running. What's wrong?

Give us a list of what you have done so far. What you could do for starters is to check spark plugs, plug gaps, fuel filter (important). Check the fuel filter for dirt and especially for water. If you find any of these two miscreants in the filter, you may suspect they come from the fuel tank, which will need to be removed and cleaned, and the whole fuel line flushed and cleaned including the carburetor / injector system. Also check the air filter. It will have to be very dirty to give the problems you describe, but check it in any case.

I have a 2010 Toyota Corolla S the car will turn over and start occasionally but will not continue to run

Get the Ecu error codes read at your favorite parts store if you can get it there. Most likely you have a fuel supply system problem. A large number of devices can cause this kind of trouble.

2010 corolla key stuck in ignition

It can be faulty ignition lock cylinder.I suggest to wiggle the steering wheel a bit and see if the key gets released out.If that is not helping then first turn steering wheel to right and try removing the key,or next turn steering wheel to left and see if you can remove the key.
----------
Spray wd-40 in the ignition key hole and let it remain there for few minutes, after that once again try to remove the key and see if that helps.
---------
But if that is not helping then ignition lock cylinder has to be removed out and key has to be manually removed.

99 toyota corolla ignition lock

Shouldn't be holding it. The switch is spring loaded and just signals the chime when the key is in.
You may have damaged tumblers in the lock cylinder or something wrong with the teeth on the key. Can you try a spare key ?

Car Ignition key

If your key is 'twisted'. in the ignition-lock, I am sorry you won't have no choice but to remove the ignition-lock and dismantling it to free the stuck key.

Before removing the ignition-lock, try spraying a lubricant (WD-40) in the lock, and see it that frees the key.

What causes motor to keep running after turning key off 98 corolla

Usually, something in the combustion chambers is too hot causing self ignition--carbon deposits in the head(s) that glow or the wrong spark plugs that run too hot. This problem usually makes a lot of 'clinking' sounds. If it seems to be running normally, replace the ignition switch which is probably remaining on in spite of being turned off!

Key hot when removed form the ignition

I purchased a 2010 Corolla in Jul\t 2009. For two months, several times, the key was hot when I removed it from the ignition. I was told it was due to the Immobilizer chip in the handle. I'm concerned as it happened again in Sept 2010. and if it does this periodically I feel in time it could cause a dangerous problem as cars have caught fire due to ignition problems. What response did you get from your dealer or how did you sove your problem??
