Drove 10 miles to work, battery dead, jump started, drove 2 miles and motot died. towed home charged battery, friend checked output of alternator and battery. Said they appeared good (fairly new battery) to go. Have not driven since and battery is still holding charge. Is this miss diagnosed alternator. or fuel filter/injector issue or ??? Joaquin Mello

new batt if it is over 3 yrs old-needs to always be at 12.6 v--its not holding charge well--have it load tested--probly only gettn a surface charge onit-it will fool u
If the batt light is on, the alternator is not charging the battery. If the battery won't hold a charge, it could be failing. If you are having a specific problem with your PT Cruiser or Mustang, let us know what it is.
If you asked the shop to replace the belt, they would have done that and made sure the belt was on correctly. If they did not know there was a problem with the alternator they would not have tested the output. If the battery light was on before you had the belt replaced somebody should have said something about the alternator. Otherwise no.
