It could be a plugged up or burnt out solenoids for reverse in the transmission. Or, it could be a worn out linkage to the transmission.

But, I am leaning towards the solenoid.

To replace it, the transmission needs to be rebuilt at a bench.

Good luck on this repair.

The stall in reverse is most likely unrelated to your problem, unless your alternator went bad, and your battery is discharged. Try charging/replacing your battery. A jump start may not work as Dodge trucks don't like to idle well with a weak battery. Then try starting again, if it runs check the voltage at the battery. You should have 13-14.5 volts, if not you have a dead alternator. If it still won't start, please post some more details.

All of sudden my reverse wont work in my 99 durango

You may need to change your transmission fluid and filter.Reverse is the first to show problems when your fiter is clogged or fluid is low. Im assuming you've checked the fluid. The reverse bands require the fluid to travel the furthest. This is the cheapest way to start investigating tranny troubles. If, when you drop the pan you'll see a small magnet. If the magnet has a large amount of metal filings on it, you could have worn clutches. Some filings are normal but if they include a splinter- like texture, you've got damage.

2004 dodge durango won't start

If you haven't had an alternator / charging warning light on, i would suggest it's the battery, or dirty connections.

It turns over but wont start

You need to look at why no ign. Check for loose wires back to the eng. control module. See if you have spark at the plugs aqnd power at the coils.
