When it is doing this does the door feel loose? It could possibly be off track or the track could be stripped out. Keep me posted.

Do you feel any binding in the door when you upen it manually? Or any resistance? Try lubricating the tracking with lithium greese or similar and see if this helps. One other issue could be the door sensor may either be bad or possibly may need to be adjusted. This could also be why the door is opening and then stopping at the half way point because it thinks the door is all the way open. Keep me posted.

I just thought of one more solution. Looking at the way it is setup there could be a short. Alot of times it is the wiring contained in the black chain located in the sliding door well. The wiring can sometimes get a small kink causing a short which could be why it opens half way and stops but once opened all of the way it will not close. The wire could be making contact on and off depending on the position of the door. Try and check this first. This could also be what makes the door feel a little harder to open when you manually open it past the halfway point. It is also important to keep the door well clean and the links on the chain lubicated periodically. Try this and keep me posted. Also if you find this helpful please reconsider my rating.

    Thanks - Tech101

Check the wiring harness for the door cable. 2004, 05, and 06s had the same issues. Over time, the dorr may catch the cable in the track, giving a slight yank, or moisture gets into the harness fouling the conection.

2004 toyota sienna manual sliding door problem. When opened all doors will lock shortly after. On same door, interior light will not come on when sliding dooe opened

I have the same problem. I thought it was an electrical problem. My interior lights would go one and off and I would hear clicking noises. I took it to a mechanic and he said my switches for the sliding doors are bad so he had to order them from toyota and I'm getting them replaced tomorrow. Take it to a mechanic and get the switches replaced.

I have a 99 montana passenger side sliding door dont work. Hit either button all it does is clicks and motor seems to be fine.. I went to junk yard bought complete new motor and everything that comes...

I would check the overhead buttons there are two one opens the door, and the other beside it that shows the van crossed out, disables the electric sliding door feature. try playing with that, Also remember, that vehicle must be in PARK for the electric sliding door to open. Make sure the power lock on that door is working, and check the child safety lock when you have it open by the doors catch. Hope that Helps You.

2004 Toyota Sienna power slide door won't open all the way

The suggested fix above did fix my problem. The problem is that a 2.5" hinged finger that pops up from the floor of the door opening to block the door. Apparently, the finger should, but doesnt go back down after the gas flap is closed. Even after I got hinged finger down (so that the sliding door would open/close all the way), it still would not go back down after the gas flap has been opened. i.e. I have to push the finger back down every time after we fill up with gas. It looks like there is a little wire/spring that should pull the finger back down, but it is off of the finger. I think that replacing this back on the finger should fix the problem permanently.
