Question about 1998 Ford Windstar

1 Answer

99 windstar ok here it goes. I have multiple light going off and on. The ABS light wont go off. The O/D light was flashing but now its not. today the brake light came on. I have had the brakes checked at three different places and they all say my brakes are new. my speed odometer also decides that it is possessed after about 40 MPH. it just flies back and forth. I had a 98 before this one and had no problems. HELP!!!

I think it is a defect with a certain few years of the windstars. I currently own a 1998 windstar and my ABS light and my brake light have been on steadily for over two years now. It still passes inspection and has been checked SEVERAL times. The best explination that I have yet received was that there could be a very tiny mocroscopic air bubble in the line which will not effect performance but is enough to trigger the light sensor. I will NEVER purchase another windstar again. I have many problems with mine that strangely thousands of dollars later, still NO ONE can seem to repair.

Sensors rarely go out i'd try first check brake fluid top it off this can cause brake light to come on if full check yor brake pads and rotors you got to take your tires off any rust will set off the brake light inside your truck if they are fine then you should get your ball joints and tie rod ends checked out by a pro

I have a 99" Ford Windstar LX, When I press on the brakes the pedal shakes and it makes a grinding noise after driving a few miles the abs light goes on. I have replaced, pads, rotors, master cylinder,...

if you replaced all the brake parts I would check your hub bearings and cv axels if the noise is coming from front if the noise is in the rear check your e brake shoes located inside of the rear brake rotors if u have disc rear brakes or your rear brake bearings .. hope this helps

1998 ford windstar how to stop abs light from staying on

The ABS light warns you of a problem that needs to be corrected. The way to get the light to go off is to take your Windstar to a competent mechanic to get both problems resolved.

1996 Ford Windstar 3.8L, Brake light is on-brakes work fine

Abs light on means the ABS sytem has a fault.
You can determine what is wrong by counting the flashes (they say) and then put the data in on the web.

IE abs, windstar, failure, 3 flashes.

The brake light on is most likely picking up on uneven brake pressure, or a failing master cylinder/
You may not feel any difference yet, give it a little time, feel for a pedal fade at a light.

Your speed sensor in your trans. needs to be checked out sounds like its not working or not getting a good signal until its generating enough power and speed to start until it reaches 30 MPH. Check that out sometimes it could just be some dirt on it. It all makes sense the ABS light is on because its not reading the speed of the tires, and the AOD light is on because It has no idea when to shift into overdrive without knowing how fast its going. I sure Hope that Helps You Out, And Thanks, Bear001
