Question about 2007 Volvo XC90 V8 AWD Sport

Noisy when driven at 30 mph or higher

The car engine seems to be grinding...sounds almost liek I am in the wrong gear when driving a manual car. Or as if car engine is rough? I cannot really describe it, other than to say that the car does not feel like it use to; that is, operate smoothly and quietly. The mechanic I spoke to over the phone at Volvo said that a repair or maitnenace light would come on if there was a problem with the engine. Another neighbor mecganic test drove the car for me and said that I had a problem witht he right wheel bearing? I have a feeling that I may never get to the bottom of the problem until the car really breaks down and I am stranded on the road or worse get into an accident as a result of a undetected or misdiagnosed problem. Your kind reply is appreciated. Thank you in advance for any educated comments/suggestions you may provide. My car is an 2007 XC90 V6

PLEASE HELP Metal grinding while driving

Sounds like the thrust bearing is worn to the bleep. Though I suspect it's not Synchromeshing. Some part of the Clutch mechanism failing critically.
See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manual_transmission#Synchromesh

Did it run out of Oil? BUT then maybe damage has been done to both the internal of the Gearbox as well as the clutch, so yeah STOP driving it before more damage that can set you back a fortune

I have a 1999 Mazda 626 5 speed and my rpms seem to always be high weather I'm driving n town, 4th gear 30 mph 2100 rpm, or on the highway 5th gear 70 mph and rpms at 3100. This I'm sure is killing my gas...

check clutch for slipping condition, mayb due to worn clutch disc or a oil contaminated disc or a weak pressure plate not locking disc to flywheel therefore giving u a slipping condition and higher than normal rpms

Mazda b2200, 1989 109000 miles. Vibration, seems to be in the front end, when moving between 30-40 mph, 3rd or 4th gear. Vibration still exists when not in gear, manual transmition. Tires are new and...

I have the same thing but mine is between 45-50 mph. I read about this a while back in a magazine for people that pull campers, the problem exists in all vehicles although its not as noticeable in every thing you ride in. There is a certain "point" at which your speed and engine speed reach, that causes a phenomonon that causes a vibration. Engineers relate it to "harmonics" which is a similar issue but in the electronic field of study. There is nothing you can do for it, and it varies from unnoticeable in some vehicles to driving you insane in my 1989 Mazda B2200. I had an '89 Ford F-150 that did it at 35 mph and a 2001 Dodge Diesel that did it at 45 mph, but those were the only three vehicles I've ever driven and noticed it.
