Question about Pontiac Firebird

1 Answer

1969 pontiac firebird oil pan.

I have an oil leak on my 1969 pontiac firebird 350. It has the original oil pan that has several pin holes on the bottom of pan . I tried to repair it with poxy, but that only worked for several days then right back to the oil leak. What do I have to do ? Replace the pan ? If I have to replace the pan, how is it done, do i have to lift the engine ? Thanks Rocco

You can take the oil pan off by just undoing the bolts just lift the car up then since it is just pin holes you can probly just spot weld them or maybe use a high streangth solder

1969 firebird

I guess my first question would be - what are your plans for the car ?
Totally stock, modified, or race ?
Totally stock would be the most valuable in terms of resale. Modified or race would limit the number and type of possible buyers.
It had a straight 6 cyl 250 - a 350 V8 - or 400 V8 when new. The VIN would tell you want the original engine was. And this was before GM swapped engines between brands. So the V8 engines were Pontiac built. The Pontiac 6 cyl was overhead cam.

My 2005 Chevy Cavalier is severely leaking oil from a bolthole on the bottom of the oil pan. It is not the oil plug hole and there are a few holes like it without bolts in them but there is only one...

SOUND LIKE HOLE IN OIL PAN IF THE OIL PAN DRAIN PLUG NOT LOOSE OR MISSING AND THE UPPER PAN BOLTS HOLES NOT MISSING A BOLT CAUSE LEAKING.MORE LIKELY YOU HAVE HOLE IN THE OIL PAN.

Hood pins on a 1991 Pontiac Firebird

Find the point on the radiator support where the pins will be located.Be sure there isn't anything underneath to drill through.Measure from the fender to the center point of the hole location, and measure from the front fascia(edge where the front edge of the hood meets the body)to the center point of the hole location.Use these measurements to mark the hole on the hood.Repeat for the other side.MEASURE TWICE DRILL ONCE.
