2.9 liter isn't very large. You may have some troubles with hills.Your best bet would be to call a Ford dealer. They would know the limits much better.

I would think yes, no problem. If you drive in hilly areas, keep an eye on your temperature gauge and be aware of the dangers of brake fading if you have to use the brakes alot. (downshift on long downhills rather than using excessive brakes.)

Towing capacity of a a988-90 ford bronco II with auto transmission

Don't. Just don't. It's a French designed transmission and doesn't handle extra torque well. The 2.9L and 3.0L motors do have decent power but they are under supported by the automatics. If you are determined to try anyways, try and keep it below 1,200lbs and stray away from steep hills.

88 bronco 2 automatic v6 will sometimes not go in any gear but if I'm lucky it will kick in and go can anyone tell me the problem

the problem was changing that fluid! rarely happen, but it will happen when people change transmission fluid on older car then the car messed up. when you change the fluid you washed all the friction material on the clutch surface by putting in new fluid.

I have an 1988 ford bronco 2 automatic V6 i pulled

There are shift solenoids in the transmission and apparently there's a problem them. I would get it to a trany shop and have it checked right away. If you continue to drive it you will ruin the transmission. Are sure you put the right computer in the vehicle? If you put a computer from a Bronco II with a manual trans in a vehicle with an automatic trans, the trans won't work right.

Is it a Automatic or standard ??
No problem for a standard transmission, however an automatic you may like to add a transmission fluid cooler !

1989 bronco II, 2.9 V6 automatic transmission

My ATSG manual says to tighten the adjusting screw in to 10ft-lbs, then back it out exactly 2 turns. Holding the screw, tighten the lock nut to 35-45ft-lbs. The intermediate band is set the same way.
