A tune up wouldn't hurt. You could also trace out the plug wire for the misfiring cylinder and see which coil pack it's attached to. Swap that coil pack with another and then see if the misfire stays in the original cylinder or if it moves. If it moves, it's a bad coil pack. If it stays, I'd look into new plug or wire for that cylinder. Beyond that, have the injector in that cylinder diagnosed to see if it's failing.

Mecury sable misfire on two cylinders, Does this mean I can do a tune up on my car and it should act fine.

if the misfire is on 2 adjacent cylinders , a tune up will be a waste of money unless you have a compression test done first
adjacent cylinders is generally a head gasket
modern EFI engines do not need a tune up as the computer in the ECM does a tune up every 30 seconds
what you should be doing is having the fault codes read to see there are any reports from the sensors that need attention
most misfires are from bad injectors so a quality injector cleaner is about all the tune up you need to do

2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor stalls out when idle. Recent tune up (NGK iridium spark plugs used). Initially wasn't stalling out but running rough during idle. Check engine light was on prior to tune up...

Most of the times is just an air leak from a vaccum hose. Also since the code its for only cylinder #6 I would suggest to take a look at the coil pack. They do go bad and it will affect your cat converter reading due to the fact that gas is not being burned on that cylinder.
I hope this helps!

Bad gas mileage from O2 senor being bad, EGR sensor bad or needs cleaning

How to Increase gas mileage?

For car not changing gears it can be shifter assembly issue, or it can also be transmission issue. Get the shifter assembly inspected with ignition OFF.

For more troubleshooting, I suggest you to get the Following help link checked, its complete step by step procedure to inspect gear shift issues: -----

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.

From start to end troubleshooting these problems I suggest you to check the help link below and follow its procedure: -----

Mostly all types of car no start problems are discussed here with solutions.

There are few possibilities that can cause engine misfire issues. It can be issue with spark plugs or faulty spark plugs. Also get the compression test done for cylinders. If any of cylinder shows low compression then required, then that particular cylinder will cause misfire.

Also get obd codes scanned, the error code will let you know which cylinder is misfiring or all cylinders are misfiring.

I have a 2004 buick redevous that keeps misfireing on the 3 cylinder

  • The service engine light means a error has been detected. The code is P0303 if it is misfire in cylinder 3. I find it odd that Firestone just did a tune up and now you have a misfire code and they are trying to send you somewhere else.

  • The misfire in one cylinder only starts with a check of the plug, wire, coil/distributor. then a check of the injectors and if needed a compression test and possibly a leak down test. So you see, some of the things performed during the tune up could be part of the problem. I would suggest talking to the owner of Firestone before going to pay out of pocket for something that may be due to technician error or faulty parts.

  • Hope this helps.

We have a 2002 Kia Sedona. It started running rough. I have a OBO2 tester, so we hooked it up. It said code PO302- misfire detected cylinder 2. What is the firing order or where is cylinder 2? I was...

yes the intake needs to be removed in order to change the rear plugs and 90k is definetly due for tune up stuffs, make sure you get a fuel filter also (part of the tune up) and there are no special tools needed so i would feel comfortable to take it to your local shop.

I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 4wd and three codes came up P 300 p 301 and p 308 what are these ??? help please!!

The codes mean as follows
PO300 multiple cylinder misfires
PO301 #1 cylinder misfire
PO308 #8 cylinder misfire
Some of the more common causes for these codes popping at once are, if you went through a big
puddle and the engine and wires are wet or the distributor cap and/or wires are bad or the camshaft
sensor(located inside dist cap) is bad and sending false signals. Hope this helps.

Missing intermittenly, shows problem with #2 cylinder. Could it be the coil and can you purchase separate coils.

Theses coils are separate, but handle 2 cylinders at a time. So in your vehicle you should have 3 coils.Random misfire may be caused by the following: due 4 tune-up, faulty coil, faulty spark plug, faulty plug wire, faulty cam or crank sensor, poor cylinder compression, intake/head gasket leaks. Before replacing parts, make sure that #2 cylinder is diagnosed for the misfire. Otherwise you'll be changing out good parts, and spending more $$$!!

this can cause these codes and then not go on storing codes for other bank even though that bank will be missfiring also due to water & P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected being logged
check all connections to coils/leads & wiring connectors
due to miss fire codes for cyl 1,3,5 all on the same bank
also look and check for air leaks on that bank (hose knocked off or splithose)inlet manifold gasket, brake booster etc...
3 injectors being blocked slightly on same bank posible!!!
check wires and signal

was it running like this b4 tune up & repairs?
this is what codes are

P0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
