Why doesn't car turn over or start?

Your battery is very low, enough to light the dash but not to start the engine. Get your self a volt meter that plugs into the cigarette lighter (any good auto store have them). You can now see the voltage of your battery. If it is less than 10 volts, then it will need to be charged/jump started. If the battery is good with 12 volts, then check the ground cable for a good contact to frame and check that the cables are secure on the battery.

Clicking sound but engine won't start

This actually does sound like the battery is low on charge. A battery which is quite low on charge will still light the headlights and run many other electrical accessories, but will not engage the starter (which requires much more power than other accessories).
I would start by making sure that an electrical device, such as interior lights, glove box lights, trunk light or something else has not been left on. Then carefully jump start the engine. It is also possible that the battery might need to be replaced for not holding a charge.

I have a jeep Liberty 02 3.6L V6 I was gone and the car sat for 5 days. I went to start it and it wouldnt turn over all lights were on, I had it jumped and it sterted and wouldnt go over 40mph. When codes...

P0230....Fuel Pump Primary Circuit

P0725....Engine Speed Input Circuit

Here are the codes but i have no idea what could be causing the problem ,Perhaps the dead battery has done something to the ECU ,i would check the fuel pump feed out but first i would charge the battery for at least two days on trickle charge so the engine will crank ok as if the battery is too low this could cause problems although it should start with a jump and charge itself up but if the battery is too low it will not charge as a alternator needs power to produce a charge unlike a dynamo

Car won't start- makes a ticking sound when turn key- radio keeps coming back on after turning it off

It would appear that you have a low battery. You may need a jump start to get going. I would have the battery replaced and make sure your charging is working. When you get it jump started and it is running, check for a red battery light on your dash. If you don't see one, your charging system is OK and you just have a tired battery that needs to be replaced. You can also go through your display choices to the vehicle voltage reading. Make sure you have atlease 13.8 volts.

Hope this helps.

Jumped the battery after car sat for awhile then

If you dont use the car it still use the battery so sounds like you need do slow trikle charge on the battrie. If that dosent work you might killed the battrie off. i dont this many time if not use it die fast.

Mazda 2005 RX-8 wont start... ran yesterday, lights on & sounds

I have a 2004 that had the same problem. It sounds like the engine might be flooded. The best thing to do is to remove the fuse to the fuel pump. It will be listed under the fuse cover under the hood. Mine was a 20 amp but check to be sure. With the fuse removed, crank the engine for a minute to remove any fuel flooding the engine. Replace the fuse and crank the engine in 10 second intervals without touching the gas or you will reflood the engine. This process can sometimes take awhile and will drain your battery, so have it connected to an additional power source ( i.e. another car battery or jump box). When the car finally cranks over there will be a huge cloud of smoke so don't be alarmed when it happens. Lastly some words to the wise. This process CAN ruin your starter, but is essentially the same process that the dealership will you except that they will remove the spark plugs to drain the fuel and then charge you for new ones. If this process doesn't work then you probably need new spark plugs which is going to cost quite a bit. I was quoted upwards of $525 to fix this problem until I talked to a Mazda mechanic and found out how to do this myself. Just make sure that the engine is up to running temperature before turning the car off and you shouldn't encounter this problem again. I hope this helps you, and remember that if all else fails the dealer can fix it. It won't be cheap, but they will get it done.

I almost forgot, you HAVE to get the oil changed as soon as possible because there is probably gas in the oil now.
