It is on left side of engine looking from the top. its a small usually small plastic ball about a half inch in diameter on lower left side of transmission as you look at engine from top. you need to reach down to the left, the white plastic ball looks more like a plug, rather than a dipstick handle. this is a bugger when engine is hot. have a good day !!

Accidentally drained transmission fluid instead of oil. Bought 2008 Toyota Tacoma used and manual does not provide info on where transmission fluid is put in.

Normally the transmission fluid off pumped from the side of the engine block. You have to look from the under side of the vehicle. Good luck....

Transmission

open glove box, take out operator guide, see it there?
be advised, on many newer cars, this dip stick is gone.
post engine, size post , tranny option.
which options you have , is not stated.
nice TSB parking brake RECALL....
do not guess on fluid. it my need ATF+4

you can read the guessing below, but why guess?
why not just LOOK.
i first look in bay, the engine bay, hummmm no stick.
so I then jack up car, and use STANDS of proper weight class.
and look at the tranny, its not complex.
this huge aluminun casting wire wires, and vent hoses.
and 2 cooler lines,
I LOOK, and see if my case has a dip stick tube
i can do this in under 15min, only needs be dont 1 time ,ever.
if you are DIY, this is SOP, ? std, op procedures. LOOK first.

if just wondering, then ask a mech, to show you
or read the opr. guide, if they fail to mention it, its NOT THERE.
some do tell, they say ,no user serviceable transmission level checks.
or by the FSM, buy it and read it.
what transmission is in you car, know body ,knows.
in fact sometimes they change the make of tranny , in mid year.
if you work on cars, you learn that,, (mid year productions changes)

first google hit, gosh im blessed.????

  1. check fluid while running in park or neutral
  2. wipe stick off put back in check again look at both sides of stick
  3. if need to add put fluid in tube where the stick goes
  4. only add what you need check again

I think my son hit something to cause the transmission fluid to all leak out...there is a stream from my house to where the vehicle quit and a puddle underneath...i see where to check the fluid, but not...

You will need to look under the vehicle at the transmission and verify if there is transmission case damage,a broken transmission line ect. if your son ran over something and you can see the damage then adding fluid will cause it to just leak back out of the case. You will probably need it to be towed to the mechanic if that is the case. If you try and drive it in that condition you may cause permanent damage to the vehicle's tranny. And transmission fluid is usually added in the same tube that contains the dip stick to check the level of the fluid. Also power steering fluid will also look like transmission fluid and could be a power steering leak.

Can't figure why running hot

Sounds like a bad thermostat, Transmission cooler never should have been installed as that has nothing to do with heating and cooling of the motor.

Next check to see if the electric fans are turning on. If it get hot at low speeds its probably due to the fan not coming on and using the A/C heavily.

Can't find the dip stick or fill tnk for trans on Jeep 1987 Cherk

thats because the fill point is on the trans you will have to crawl under the vech and look for a plug at the top of the trans remove that plug make sure you add the right fluid check with the dealer for the recommended fluid add the fluid until it runs out the hole let it set for awhile install the plug start the vech run it through the gears and recheck good luck kdc744

Internal diagram for transmission on 98 ford expedition

Actually its a plug that's placed in the dipstick hole during manufacture. when they insert the dipstick tube the plug just stays harmlessly in the pan until the first fluid change. It's nothing you need.

If you are still having performance issues, it may be electrically related as this transmission is controlled by the electronic module.
