Screw size for steering column

Hi. I need to know what size screws to use and the shape of it, and where to buy them,  to replace the two bottom screws on the steering wheel cover that just fell out (or maybe was someone trying to steal the car? I noticed the cover is really loose and only held in with one screw.
Thank you very much.

Screw bit size the steering column cover on a 2001 Ford Escape

You thought it was a Phillips Screw

It is a Torx Screw like a T20 size, most likely

You also come across some metric hex at times,
so make sure it looks like a double hex, thus torx

I purchased a flasher for 1996 lincoln town car and would like instructions and diagrams on installation

The flasher is located under the sterring wheel to the left, just over the brake pedal, the flasher unit is a (commonly) round or cubic dollar size piece.

Ford had a common problem that would cause the blinker operation to fail caused by a short circuit in the turn signal switch. The switch contact plate will come loose causing the blinkers to stay on or not work at all. To replace this switch remove the steering column cover (3 screws on the bottom facing upward). Once the steering column cover is off remove the two mounting screws that attach the switch to the column. When the switch is loose from the column remove the wiring harness connector and reconnect to the new switch. Remount the new switch with the mounting screws and re-attach the steering wheel column cover and recheck operation.

Hope this helps.

Instrument Cluster Finish Panel

Removal and Installation

1. Remove three screws along the bottom of instrument panel steering column cover (04459). Pull on instrument panel steering column cover to unsnap the three clips across the top of the instrument panel steering column cover. Remove the lower instrument panel steering column cover.

2. Remove four screws retaining the steering column shrouds (3530) together and remove the steering column shrouds.

3. Remove the three screws retaining the bottom of the cluster instrument panel finish panel (044D70).

4. Remove two screws retaining the cluster instrument panel finish panel above the instrument cluster face.

5. Pull cluster instrument panel finish panel to unsnap one retaining clip above the LH A/C register (19893).

6. Pull cluster instrument panel finish panel to unsnap three retaining clips on the RH side vertical edge.

7. Pull cluster instrument panel finish panel away from instrument panel (04320) far enough to disconnect the wiring connector(s).

8. To install, reverse Removal procedure.

I've never done #2, and #1 refers to the panel below the steering column. To remove it completely, pull it towards the driver's seat. There may be retaining clasps on it also.

No tail lights or rear blinkers work. Need wiring diagram to get to problem

Where your turn signal handle is located there is a switch that is known as a multifumction switch. Sometimes one of the wires pulls out and you have to install it or replace the switch. Remove the cover going around the steering column by removing the screws that are accessable through the small holes in the bottom cover of the column. Usually phillips or star shaped screw drivers. The switch is the one that the turn signal handle goes into. Itis heid into place with 2 or 3 screws.Your tail lights and brake lights go through this switch. Hope this helps leave comment

How hard is it to replace the turn signal switch in the steering column ? I have a new replacement, the old one shorts out and you can actually hear it arcing.

Very easy actually, just remove the screws under your steering wheel column cover. the screws are under the cover. After removing all the screws, just a hard tap on the cover will dislocate the whole cover.
Now you will see the signal light assembly and look at the bolts holding switch, remove the bolts. Follow the harness of the switch, just at the mid bottom of the steering column shaft, disconnect the connection, and put the new switch into it.
hope that was easy!
Thanks for using Fixya!

Much play in steering wheel; possibly the 3 set screws in the bottom of steering column? how to fix? this is on 1987 chev 1/2 ton

Replace steering column with a better one or you must break down the steering column all the way down untill you the screws in the bottom of the column and tighten them up. It is some work and you may need to video while you are taking it apart so you can remember how to reinstall it.Good Luck!!!

Gear shift is loose windstar sel 2001

You need to screw a bolt which is located under the steering column. Take off a panel under the steering column. Take a flush light look under and jiggle the shifter arm. There is a bolt (I think it's a star shaped so you need to buy it) connecting 2 parts of linkage. It will be loose. Screw it and shifter arm will be as new.

Where blinker relay on the 97 Chevy blazer and what does it look like?

It's behind the panel to the left of the cigarette lighter. You need a Torx 25 screwdriver and another screwdriver for those hex shaped screws, forgot the size.
First unscrew the 2 Torx 25 screws beneath the steering wheel. Then unscrew the rest of those Hex screws on the bottom. The panels overlap, so be prepared for a lot of unscrewing.
You do need to unscrew the middle black panel on the bottom, right beneath the cig lighter. It's held by two Hex shaped screws, one on each side and are hard to unscrew. Also you need to remove your spare change sliding tray to unscrew the last hex looking screw.
Once you pop your panel off, the turn signal flasher is the right one. The Hazard flasher is the left one. You can find a replacement part at Auto zone. It's shaped like a cylinder with TWO prongs on it.

Good luck and hope this helps

How do i repace ignition switch on 2001 dodge grand caravan

The lock can easily be removed if you have a working key and can still turn it to the on position.
You need to remove the screws located in the bottom half of the shroud, then remove the shroud.
Locate the retainer pin ( a small square shaped metal piece) in the bottom of the lock housing) The picture below is for a reference, it is not the same lock but very similiar to yours.
While applying pressure to this pin , use your key to rotate the lock clockwise, until you feel the pin drop into the lock. At this point, you can remove the lock.
