Try looking on either under the hood or near the radiator for a belt diagram. If you don't see one, or it's too faded to see, try looking on Google for a belt diagram. Hope that helps...

Pulley's do not need to be removed, simply position the belt around the three pulley's.

V-belt routing for a Chev 454 (7.5l) engine

This is the routing diagram for a 454 engine using v-belts only, not a serpentine belt.
The following abbreviations are used :
  • C - Crankshaft
  • S - Smog pump (A.I.R.) system
  • W/P - Water Pump
  • Alt - Alternator / Generator
  • A/C - Airconditioner
  • P/S - Power steering(In some installations also includes the brake booster pump)
This particular setup is most prevalent in motorhomes. Refer to the diagram.
Diagram 1 is for the first groove on the crank(closest to the block), and utilizes the 1st groove on the power steering.(belt no : 15415)
Diagram 2 is for the 2nd crank groove and utilises the 1st groove on the water pump pulley, the A/C pulley and the 2nd groove on the P/S pulley.(belt no 15590)
Diagram 3 is for the 3rd groove on the crank

http://c.fixya.net/fixya20/uploads/images/724c369.jpg
If your motorhome uses a serpentine belt it replaces the belt in track number 3. (serpentine belt no : 6K560)
The upper smog pump(not shown in diagrams) is powered from the powersteering (Hydraboost) pulley (V-belt no : 15450)

HOW TO REPLACE WATER PUMP ON MY 1995 CADALLIC EL DORADO

Instructions
    • Place a ratchet driver into the drain plug on the Cadillac's radiator and drain the coolant into a drain pan. Close the drain plug after you drain the coolant.
    • 2Remove the radiator hose from the water pump. The hose has a compression clamp on it. Squeeze the clamp together with pliers and then slide the hose off the pump.

    • 3Locate the tensioner pulley for the water pump. It situates on the engine between the water pump and the crankshaft. Place a ratchet driver into the square-receiving hole on the pulley and rate the pulley to loosen tension on the drive belt. Pull the drive belt off the water pump pulley.
    • 4Remove the four bolts that hold the pump onto the front of the engine block with a socket. Pull the pump out of the engine block and discard it.
    • 5Scrape the old gasket off the engine block with a wire brush and shop towel.
    • 6Place the o-ring onto the water pump and wet it with coolant.
    • 7Press the water pump into the Cadillac's engine block and tighten down the bolts with the socket to secure it to the block.
    • 8Rotate the tensioner pulley and place the drive belt onto the water pump pulley.
    • 9Place the radiator hose onto the water pump and use the clamp and pliers to secure it.
    • 10Drain the radiator coolant back into the radiator via the filler spout located on top of the radiator.

FRONT AXELS ON A CAD 1999 EL DORADO JUST GOT THE CAR AM TOLD THEY ARE BENT HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN

These are front wheel drive cars so if cv joints and boots are damaged and left unattended the axles will take most of the abuse causing slight bending. But this could also happen from driving over a rock or hitting a curb that is above the clearance level of the axles. If neither of those have happened you may be getting jerked around it's pretty difficult to bend those things.

  1. NOTE: If the drive belt requires servicing, refer to Section 03-05 .

Remove the drive belt from the power steering pump pulley.
  1. Remove the oil dipstick tube.
  1. Remove the power steering pump support (3C511).
  1. Install Steering Pump Pulley Remover T69L-10300-B on the pulley.
  1. NOTE: Do not apply pressure on the power steering pump rotor shaft (3B559). Pressure will damage internal thrust areas of the power steering pump (3A674).

While holding the remover tool nut stationary with a wrench, rotate the inner spindle of the remover tool clockwise until the pulley is pulled off the power steering pump rotor shaft.
  1. Remove the bolts attaching the power steering pump to the A/C compressor mounting bracket (2882).
Installation
  1. Install the power steering pump on the A/C compressor mounting bracket. Install and tighten attaching bolts to 41-61 Nm (30-45 lb-ft). On 4.0L engine, tighten to 47-64 Nm (35-47 lb-ft).
  1. Position the support on the A/C compressor mounting bracket. Install mounting bolts and tighten to 47-64 Nm (35-47 lb-ft).
  1. NOTE: Fore/aft location of power steering pump pulley on power steering pump rotor shaft is critical. Incorrect belt alignment may cause drive belt squeal or chirp. Make sure pull-off groove on power steering pump pulley is facing front and flush with end of shaft ± 0.254mm (± 0.010 inch).

Install the Steering Pump Pulley Replacer T65P-3A733-C and install the power steering pump pulley.

On Aerostar 3.0L V-6 engine, position the belt idler pulley (8678) assembly to give the drive belt the tension specified. Refer to belt tension check in Section 03-05 . Tighten the drive belt tensioner and adjustment bolts to 47-64 Nm (35-47 lb-ft).
  1. Install the power steering pump support, if removed.
  1. Install the oil dipstick tube.
  1. Install the pressure hose tube nut and new Teflon® wagner into power steering pump valve outlet fitting (3D654) and tighten to 41-54 Nm (30-40 lb-ft).
  1. Connect the power steering return hose to the power steering pump, and reposition the clamp.
  1. Fill the power steering oil reservoir (3A697) with Premium Power Steering Fluid E6AZ-19582-AA or equivalent fluid meeting specification ESW-M2C33-F. Start the engine and turn the steering wheel (3600) from left to right without hitting stops to remove air from the system.
  1. Check for leaks and recheck the fluid level. Add fluid if necessary to proper level as specified in Section 11-00 .
