Nice one, a lot cheaper than an ECU!

Well done.

Classic symtoms of a anti-theft prob, engine runs for a second or two

Check the heater AC 10 amp fuse and also one marked LH headlamp 15 amp,(underhood fusebox) if these are both good I suspect the body control computer may have been damaged. Should have full time power at one terminal and key on power at another (at the drl relay)
I would also check at the starter main power feed and make sure a fusible link hasn't burned. All I can think of.

Hi, this condition is usually caused by a loose or dirty battery terminal but may also be a bad ground or cable. Recommend you try a jump start first to help narrow down the possiblities.

Please see my tip at http://www.fixya.com/cars/r6222268-engine_doesnt_crank_turn_over . These are generic instructions. If you get stuck or need specific instructions for your car, please get back to me with model, year and engine info.

1998 toyota crolla battery hooked up wrong, car starts but no acc

I believe the reason the lights would still work is due to the fact a light bulb doesn't discriminate about polarity. It would be fair to say you have fried relays in your car. These should be located in something that looks like a fuse box in your engine bay. Some may also be in your fusebox. Hope this helps and good luck.

the power to the glowplugs is sent from a relay that by the picture i have is near the radiator.this relay is fed by a 12volt fusible link and is activated by the engine control module grounding it. try to locate this relay and make sure you have power at 2 of the terminals and a ground when the key is turned on

No power to fuel pump...no start

hi have had this problem once on mates jetta with exact symptoms? can you explain please what you do when you bridge the relay and pump ?works does engine then start? or did you not proceed that far? just for info the fault i found was a loose soldered connection on a terminal on rear of fuse/ relay box which gave intermittant fault but fresh connection and new wire cured it? so try checking relay socket/wires? it was an auto sparks mate that gave me the info and said common occurance on jettas back then hope this helps ?

Scenic non start

Hi

I wouldn't have thought the ECUs would be interchangeable due to the immobiliser. Thinking about it, a fault with the immobiliser would cause the lack of spark and noid. I know they usually also disable the starter motor as well, but a fault would change the way it responded.

I think a computer is needed here to live scan the ECU and see exactly what the little blighter is playing at before you go to the expense of an ECU.

Hi

Well, no noid signal and no spark says to me that the crank sensor is at fault.

Does the check engine light come on when you turn on the igntion? If not then the ECU is not waking up.
