Question about 1985 Honda Prelude
I have a 85 lude no trouble with it im pretty good with cars have you tried replacin the coil that will do it also it gets hot an breaks down you can just test it with a screw driver or one of those fancy spark testers i always use screw driver pull wire off coil insert screw driver in top of coil slide wire out of boot an hold bout 1/4 inch away from screw driver dont touch metal on screw driver or end of wire if it is workin it bite you if your get spark you will see it if not no spark try that could be that simple if not your engine is floodin out could be for several different reasons just start from the back an work your way forward never know someone could have put golfball in gas tank that will do it to but it dont take too long bofore you can restart it

The original plastic floats (brown) in the carbys become porous and gradually fill with petrol causing the engine to flood and making it impossible to tune the engine. This quickly causes the engine to flood. This happened to mine with the same symptoms as yours. Replacing the original brown floats with new white ones cured the problem.

I think that problem is in the fuel pump.
The pump send too many fuel in the motor and then it stops.He starts again when fuel evaporated.
