Re: where is the crank sensor located on a 99 jeep...
Your crank sensor is located between the engine and the trans. From the pass. side. look behind the engine and you'll find a wiring harness that goes to a sensor that is installed in the bell housing A 10mm bolt holds it in place. If you're replacing the sensor, make sure you look at the wiring harness that goes to it. The harness likes to come apart.

Your problem could very well be a crank sesor. The location of this is
on the bell housing drivers side on top. I don't remember there being a
camshaft sensor, unless your refering to the sensor in the distributor.
Jack up your Cherokee and look underneath for a wiring harness that leads to a sensor that is between the engine and trans. This is your crank sensor. Pull it out and check the condition. Mainly look at the wiring harness to the sensor. These Jeeps have a habit of breaking and your Jeep with just turn off going down the road. These wiring harnesses are available at the dealer and are fairly inexpensive.
