Check to ensure that the belt is tight. Sometimes the tensioner for the serpentine belt sticks and doesn't properly tension the belt. Usually there's a square hole in the tensioner that one can place a breaker bar into to gain leverage to move the tensioner.
the belt is not adjustable, it has a spring loaded automatic tensioner pulley, what is the problem? is it noisy? if so you have a problem with engine pulley alignment, the belt is worn out/stretched or the automatic tensioner is defective
i have a 2006 ford taurus and the engine is missing on cylinders 4,5,and 6. i have replaced the coil pack the spark plugs and wires. after doing all of this the care is running exactly the same. i have had it put on multiple computers and no one can tell me what is wrong. what is the problem?
The same way you took the tension off the belt to get it off is the same way to put it back on.
okay!all you have to do is put a rachet on the bolt with the proper size socket and pull the tensioner while you put the belt on then you let go and the spring will pull it back tight.
If this is not happening then you need a new tensioner.
