My jeep is losing power going up hills & also it sometimes will not get up over about 50mph, is there some kind of sensor that would cause it to do this

I would check/replace fuel and air filters first-if this does not resolve issues try cleaning fuel injectors also it would not hurt to clean MAP&/or MAF sensors as well
You need to get some kind of scan tool that can read the data ouput of the efi system while driving on the hills that give you problems. The efi system probably has a spark knock sensor.Reading the data off of the sensor while driving will tell if the sensor is telling the engine ecm to adjust itself for low quality fuel. The engine ecm is programmed to dial back power if it detects spark knock.Running poor quality fuel will cost you many dollars more in the long run.A lean running condition (low fuel pressure, partialy plugged injectors, plugged fuel filter) will cause spark knock under load.Carbon deposits on the pistons(internal engine problems) will cause spark knock. The knock is caused by fuel igniting before the spark plug ignites it-The piston is trying to go back wards.Sometimes there will be a factory reflash for the ecm if many of the engines had the same problem.Try reading on some Jeep forums online. This is a problem for a good auto tech-not your average flat rate parts swaper. If the jeep has had many miles since some maintenance(filters & spark plugs) you might start there before laying out $ for diag.
Read the engine light on the OBDII then post the code if your code reader doesnt have the explanation of the code ,although i would suspect a faulty O2 sensor not giving the right fuel ratio but ? iam always wrong here when i guess things
If the check engine light is not on, I doubt there is much you can do. It sounds like one of the engine temp sensors or one of the other sensors. The engine temp sensor and the intake air temp sensor tell the computer what the outside air temp is and the coolant temp which allows the computer to regulate the amount of fuel going thru the injectors. Generally if one of the sensors has failed the check engine light should be on. It could be low fuel pressure too. You may have to have a shop check the sensors with a scanner and the fuel pressure with a gauge.
that sounds like a fuel filter problem its probabily clogged you can buy a new one for 25$ not hard to install on jeeps if the lines are not rusted good luck
Fuel filter is the main culprit when you lose power going uphill. Going level or downhill means that the engine doesn't have to work all that hard and doesn't demand much fuel, so a partially clogged filter can usually flow enough to allow the car to run smoothly. Going uphill requires signficantly more fuel, and if the filter is clogged up, it won't be able to flow enough fuel. This will bog the car down and cause you to lose speed. Change your fuel filter.
