If it's missing, the "Check Engine" light should be on. You need to read the code to figure out what the computer is telling you is wrong. Many repair shops will read the code for free and give you the code. After you get the code, put it into a Google search and you'll be in the ballpark.

Fix the missing and all else may be fixed. Have you done usual tune up? Checked coolant temp sensor?

Possible miss fire? take it to your local autozone and they will scan to figure out what triggered the check engine light.

my money would be on the coil cover, especially if it had been a long time since the last tune up. it is certainly worth trying, as this is part of a routine tune up anyways. good luck!

2005 Pontiac Sunfire is missing and lack the power (it wants to gain power but powers down (jumps)

I suspect you needto relace your coil pack. You are probably not running on all 4. the engine will run but only on 2 cylinders.
If missing replace coil pack. they go regularily on the 03/05 F style engines. You should be able to locate a good used one at a wreckers.

Gas smell in oil

Gas smell in oil happens
1. when Air/Fuel mixture is too rich
2. Low compression on your cylinders
Have this checked by your mechanic as soon as possible.

probably an O2 thing. My guess is MAP sensor. Take it to A Zone and they'll put it on the code reader for free.

most likely it is not actually a misfire it is the overdrive/TCC solenoid kicking on and off, it is a common GM transmission issue
