I have a 1999 Ford Ranger, I lost my alarm, is there any way to disconnect the factory alarm to turn the truck on? Or do I have to go to the dealership and buy a new alarm? Thank you.

To reset the anti-theft system, follow these steps:
1. You have a little red light on your dashboard-press it to disarm the alarm
2. Try turning the key and moving the shift from park to drive and back, then try starting it again
3. Disconnect the battery and let it breathe for 20 minutes and more, and reconnect it, that may do the trick
4. If all else fails, you may need to go down to the dealership to reprogram the key
you can't order or by one remote then when in the truck follow the remote programming instructions then once it's in the system you will get out of theft mode if you have a friend who has a ford remote you can use there's temporarily to get out of theft then you might have to disconnect the battery again then use the remote when the alarm sounds
check the cat wires on the plug, the only other thing is to have the engine management computer checked to see what codes are on it,(ECU). sometimes the plug seals go on the electrics and water gets in and shorts out the electrics. so you could check these.
I too had this porblem. I[m guessing you changed your battery out. Your car alarm system need 100% power. That small interruption is the cuase of your problems. Look up on your alarm system how to reset the module.
dealer only ,its built into the ECU have you pushed the fuel cut off switch back down to reset it ?? under the bonnet with a red rubber top on it about an inch square
