Question about 1990 Sterling 827

1 Answer

Engine quit running while I was driving it.It started after an hour & half wait & went .3 tenths of a mile when it quit again.I had a fuel delivery/spark switch located under the dash by the steering wheel replaced 7 years ago when the car would turn over but not run.The mechanic said it was a common problem for these car models because of the heat buildup inside the car in the summertime. It has been very hot here.thank you

I think you are talking about the AIC valve or air idle control valve. I had the same problem with my 92 and 95 but it occured arund 127k on the 92 and around 157k on the 95. That fixed the problems but I will ask our Master tech since he fixed both of mine.

Got new battery for 01 mirage how many miles do i drive to reset computer to pass emissions test

computer re-calibrate in what is called a trip. One trip consist of starting car when engine is completely cooled off, driving until engine is at normal operating temp(temp gauge), turn off let engine completely cool again. Most cars take 3-5 "trips" to verify changes made. So i would play it safe and call it "5 Trips"

1985 toyota 4runner running too lean

Maybe it's not running lean. Maybe it's misfiring. Since you put in new fuel parts and that didn't help, maybe there is an ignition component that fails when it gets hot. A bad coil can do this, also the igniter-rarely, admittedly, but you could have it tested. When it stalls and won't start, if you check for spark and find none, it would confirm an ignition problem.
I hope you find it. Post back and let us know.

Stalled 2 blks from home. Engine turns over, but won't fire. Towed home, but next it starts. Drive it 3 miles and same thing again. 3 hours later we go back to tow it home, and it starts right up, but...

Car Runs and Loses Power and Quits Running

Try cleaning the fuel pump filter. Under the seat behind the driver lift the carpet and you will find a round cover with six screws remove the cover. The fuel pump is directly below unscrew the retaining round plate and remove the pump. At the base of the pump is a small filter if it is covered in black muck that's your problem. clean and replace. job takes about 10 mins good luck. please let me know how you got on!

98 Jeep Cherokee Laredo 4X2 suddenly dies .....

It sounds like you have some **** in the gas tank that is being drawn to the pickup blocking it.
Have seen this and because it seems so random, it can drive ya nuts.

You might carry a coffee can with you and pull the line from the fuel rail when this happens stick it in the can and just have someone turn the key on for a few seconds.
Beware though, it comes out with force.

Also possible is a failed fuel pressure regulator.
Those aren't expensive and . . . well, not very good either.
