Re: Chaning right wheel bearing on 1999 Chevy Malibu
It is much easier, and cheaper to find a steering knuckle or "hub assembly" in a salvage yard.
To begin, jack up the car and remove the wheel. Be certain the car is stable and will not roll off jack(s)!
Remove the spindle nut. Remove the brake caliper (hang on a wire).
Remove the bolt for lower ball join. Remove the bolt that goes thru
strut. Now, pull assembly off while prying to ease pressure from the
lower control arm.
Depending on how many miles you have on the car, you might want
to head-off some future trouble by replacing the half-axle while you
have the front end disassembled.

Take off wheels, using a screwdriver pry between pad and rotor to push cylinder into caliper. Remove bolts holding caliper on rotor, remove old pad, replace with new pad, put caliper back on rotor. replace wheel, repeat other side. Als check rotor for wear, if bad get new rotors, always replace as a set
one or more of the pulley's is defective, most likely the tensioner pulley, but check them all for wear and side to side movement which indicates a worn bearing, this causes the belt to not run true and chirp.
Your car has a hub assembly for a wheel bearing to get this off you need to jack your car up, Take off the tire, Remove the 2 bolts behind the caliper to take the caliper off, remove the rotor ( you may need to hit it with a hammer to get it off as they tend to rust onto the hub) Then there is 3 bolts on the hub remove them to take the hub off and install the new hub. Hope this helps.
