The multi function switch which controls the high/low beams ,turn signals etc is under the wheel. Remove the steering wheel to gain access.

I got a 1979 ford escort sport 1600. I just resparyed and started reassembling the classic, but some how i got the wireng messed up and the indecator lights does not want to work, please help. I did...

mk 2 escort ,nice car in its time i must have welded no end of sills on these cars for the old MOT ,did have a haynes book laying around but the mice ate it ,right these old cars always had problems with the bulb holders corroding ,so check these out first ,the wiring is simple enough though a feed runs to the 3 pin flasher unit and from their the feed goes to the stalk switch which then sends it down either side of the car so put the indcator on then check for a feed to the light and if you have a feed then the problem is the bulb holder ,so have a play and see what happens ,i used to build these engines on the assembly line in ford dagenham many moons ago .

Front lights swich off when i use the indecators

there is a broken wire in the switch in the steering column. if you take the column cover off you should be able to see it. simply repair the broken wire and it will work perfect.

Battery indecator light on on dash

Check to make sure that there's power from the alternator to the battery on the charge-back wire. If nothing's there, then your alternator is junk and you'll have to replace it again.

I'v lost all side lights (including dashboard),but still have headlights/fog/Brake/ ect... checked the fuses all OK, Is there a relay aswl a the fuse? If so, is it in the fusebox, of inline somewhere?...

fuse boxes tent to go faulty on escorts. try manually providing a 12v feed to the dip beam fuse in the fuse box. if the fuse box is faulty then it shuold light up the headlights. columb stalks are also very common on the ford also.

Ford escort lights

First question, have you actually tested the bulbs out of the car? If not, its worth just testing them in another car or with test wires onto the battery...
Check also the four headlamp fuses. There should be one for each headlamp for each beam setting.
If you know they are good, your suspect is probably the stalk controlling the lights, or the headlamp relay. The stalks are a bit prone on these.

FOR THE DASH LIGHTS, FIRST CHECK YOUR FUSES, IF NOT ITS PROBABLY THE STALK ITSELF, COMMON FAULT ON THESE.
FOR THE GRINDING CHECK THE WHEEL BEARINGS, AND BRAKES
