To remove the column from the vehicle you should not have to dissassemble the column if you mean the plastic that the shaft goes thru. If you mean the plastic cover that is behind the column under the dash there should be 4 screws to remove then a metal plate to remove, then remove the transmission position indicator from the column( which ios a small black cable that tells you if you are in park drive ect... , Then the four nuts holding the column to the dash. Unplug all the wiring plugs. then loosen the set screw that holds the shaft to the universal joint and it should come out as an entire assembly. Does that help ? Why do you have to remove it ? What are you trying to repair ? I can help.

I have a 2002 dodge ram 1500 n I can't get my turn lights to work any help please!!!!!!!

if these are the turn signal lights check the fuses, if they are good try the bulbs if the bulbs work in another socket then you need to replace the the multi-switch that is located on the steering column.

i have dealt with that issue before. check the wiring in your steering column. my buddy had a truck and had that happen and we pulled the steering wheel off and a wire was wrapped around the column.
or,it could be a leaking vacuum hose at speed control servo due to battery acid on the servo hose. its a common problem with rams.

When lowering sterring column my headlights cut off

the head light switch is in the multifunction switch under the steering wheel. its wiring harness comes out from under the cosmetic cover of the steering column and attaches to the car's wiring. You need to get your head up under the dash and see where the connector plug/socket is being pulled apart by the downward motion of the column. or just leave it forever in the full up position. i would do a search on youtube for "dodge ram dashboard" and hopefully you can watch someone else doing it to see how the lower dash comes out on the driver side.

Check engine light came on. Autozone said the

The power steering pressure sensor tells the computer when the power steering is being used. The sensor has probably gone bad and is sending incorrect info to the computer. The sensor is usually on or around the power steering pump or steering box.
