Question about 2008 Hummer H3

1 Answer

H3 Alpha. Vibration

Been in shop twice, can't resolve. Had new rear tires and alignment. Dealership says it's normal for the Alpha.

3 of 4 tires replaced by dealer (failed forced radial balance) now has a bit less vibration but it's still there at all speeds - worst over 70mph. They won't replace the 4th tire, so I'm moving the new spare to take that spot & see if it helps.

The balance on ANY H1 can be critical. i am a HUMMER H1 tech. for them to say its normal is a lie. they can be balanced with the proper machine and technician. alignment will not cause vibration and it is also critical that the specs on the alignment (toe specifically) form a diamond pattern. that is to say the fronts should be adjusted in 1/16th of an inch and the rear 1/16th out. that will add life to your tires as well as good handling. H1 s are the best. anything further email me at iambanshee74@yahoo.com

I just installed a set of the new Michelin Defender tires on my 2007 Impala LT 3.5. I get a vibration that seems ot be coming from the rear tires that I feel thru the driver seat ( if you put you hand

I had the same problem with my new Defenders. Turns out I had a bad batch of tires. Not only had vibration, it caused the car to pull. I had the tires tested for roundness, and three were out of round. Additionally, two of the tires were causing what is known as radial bias pull, which made the car seem like it was out of alignment. Three alignments, four rebalances and rotations later, and with still a lot of of resistance, they replaced all four tires as defective, and the problems ALL went away. You need new tires.

Had new tires placed on vehicle and after rebalancing twice still have vibration in rear tires at 65 mph. Is this because the shop can not do high speed balancing or is it because of the vehicles 18"...

Go to a different shop have the tires checked. It sounds like you might have "wheel Hop" it is caused from a tire that is not perfectly round. It may be a defective tire.

Check your U-joints, all suspension bushings, driveshaft, stabilizer bar. Has the vehicle ever been involved in a accident, hard curb hits, extreme driving, off roading??

2011 Lincoln MKZ 1500 miles 2 months old Car drifts to the left Dealer just replaced both control arms car still drifts left I dont think the dealer has a clue on what it could be

What they should do is check the alignment. This is under warranty and they should be doing what ever it takes to make sure the vehicle is fixed. The only other thing that can make it drift would be a tire.Have them swap the 2 front tires and see if it drifts the other way.If it does then you have a tire problem. If not then the alignment has to be off and should be adjusted. If possible try another dealership.Hope this helps.Good luck.

Front end vibration at 40 mph and rubbing sound

Vibration at 40 mph hard to diagonisis without looking at front end. Could be wheels need balancing, new wheels and rims. Loose or worn suspension items.
Bring vehicle into a tire and alignment shop. Most Sears auto center have them.
With regards to rubbing noise again hard to diagonisis without looking at the affected tire, probably a splash shield hitting the tire in reverse.
Alignment shop will find the problem.

Vibration at 70mph after new tires and alignment and much trouble shooting

it could be as easy as checking to see if you have a dented rim.....

or as expensive as changing the "constant velocity joints" but only if it is a front wheel driven car.....

how are your shocks?

have they repacked the rear bearings..."but only if not rear wheel driven car"

I have front end vibration that is not caused by alignment. New tires on all four wheels but still have alot of front end vibration. Car is a 2004 Hyundai Tiburon. this information is helpful but not...

Hope I can help...but you have conflicting symptoms. IE... front end vibration but no shimmy in steering wheel?
Let me tell you this: If you feel the vibration when cruising(no brake & not accellerating) @ 60-70 mph; then 95% of the time it is in the tire/wheel/balance combination. (I know you said they were new but could still be out-of-round)
