Question about 1997 Subaru Outback

3 Answers

1997 Subaru We replaced the battery in the car and now we have these blinking lights that we can't get to go out. Is there something like a code or something that needs to be done to get the lights out when you replace the battery? It is the two small lights beside the highlights in the front and in the back it is the middle light in the back. Any help would be appreciated it is my step-dad's and he is handicapped and has a hard time getting out anywhere and he lives in Maryland and I live in Virginia. Thank you Frances McWilliams

That is the alarm going off. Someone has disabled the horn for the alarm.

Do you have the remote control for it?

Open the hood, look on the frame in front and to the right of the radiator, there should be a yellow label telling you how to reset the flashing lights. You will have to find a special switch under the dash, beside the security module, put the key in RUN position, push and hold the switch for 1 sec, close the door, you are done. No need to have the original remote. I have pictures of the location of the switch. Email me if you need them: tuanlele@hotmail.com

Hope this will help you. Drop me a line once you have it fixed.

Under the dash to the left of where your left leg would sit is a box. 4" x 4". It is your security box. There is either a red button on it or a wire with a button. push the button for about 15 seconds and it will reset the security system. Good luck and have a great day.

Have you scanned the codes? You need to find out why the light is on and correct the problem. After fixing the cause, the code reader may be able to clear the codes, if not try diconnecting the battery for 20mins to 1/2 hour.

We replaced the car's battery and now the dash board lights blink

Under the dash on drivers side is the black box for the security system. If you look on the box there is a little red button. Push the button for a couple of secounds and it will click and stop your marker lights and dash lights from flashing. It is a stock anti theft part of the security system. Hope this helps.
