IMy daughter had the problem yesterday on her GTI. I changed all of the fuses. No good. Took the car to the Vee Dub agent in Manchester. It was an auxillary ECU. Quite expensive but now everything works fine. (I hope).

Hi John, Here's what I do when there's an electrical issue.. Got the the auto parts store and buy a box of assorted fuses for your car.. As you know each color fuse is a different amp size.. Only replace each fuse with the same color fuse..Now one by one pull one replace one, try your windows.. If they don't work go to next one.. Its tedious but well worth it when you fix it ,, Also your keyfob may need a new battery.. The key fob comes apart, you have to pull it real hard, grab the one end where the key comes out and the other and pulllll! Good luck

If you haven't checked it yet - suggestion? Take it to one of those glass fixing places and see if they'd take a look. They have the tools to open doors up and are cheaper than dealers - if it;s off track - 10-15 bucks to fix maybe.

Autolite - places like that.

My wife has a 2001 VW Jetta TDI, last week her windows, sunroof, interior lights stopped working, then after she drove home 15 miles they started working again, checked fuses all OK this happens about...

Probably best to have the convenience system scanned by a dealer or VW specialty shop. Sometimes a door lock mechanism fails and doesn't recognize that it's been unlocked.

A3 window and cental locking fault

this could be a problem with the convenience control box aparently they suffer from water in and arround the area of the convenience control box First thing to do is lift the carpet and underlay in the passenger front footwell. then remove the plastic trims to make it easier.Locate a black plastic box and open it up to inspect the c/d/lock window control module. You may find it has water in it along with the wiring that runs along the floor to the n/s/f door pillar.Worth a look i suppose...hope that helps

fuses are usually in the glove box or under the drivers dash or under the drivers side hood either physically inspect every fuse by pulling them one by one or the aid of a test light and a good ground to the test light
