went to the neighborhood store approximately 1 mile from my house. when i got to the store i turned the car off like usual. when i got in the car to start it nothing happened, the dome lights and dash lights came on for just a second and when i turned the key everything went off. it almost seemed like it was draining. the lights went from bright to dim to off. as soon as i remove the key the lights come back on. when i turn the key again the same thing happens and the engine does not even turn. please help

    • I am having the same problem with 2006 chevy equinox, wont start,

    • turned the key ,heard a click , a flash of light that went to dim and then off and now can turn the key , heard sort of a moaning, not firing noise and a brief show of light on the dash then to dim again.

    • Is this the alternator? If so Is it hard to remove and can I do it without any special tools. How much should I pay to get it diagnosed or fixed.

There were problems with the ignition cylinder. Occasionally gets stuck and electrical contacts may not work properly.

My 2006 suburban will not start battery is good. I jumped it a couple days ago and know i have this problem

Sounds like a stuck starter relay to me. I would try replacing the relay in the fuse panel ( there are usually several of the same size and type of relay that you can substitute for diagnostic purposes. if it works then you buy a new one. Cheap and easy way to see if it is going to fix the issue. hope this helps if I doesn't feel free to update

2006 Cobalt LS Coupe Intermittent Starting Problem

sounds about right, probably is ignition switch, reason you don't get codes is because if power is'nt connecting to engine while problems occurs then ecm won't pick it up. you should have 2 ignition switches, (the lock cylinder and key switch, the other is the electrical, usually located under the dash, and commonly atttatched to the column close to the firewall, check connections first, it may just be a loose plug in connection

Stuck eldorado key in DTS ignition now car won't start

Make sure your steering wheel isn't locked. Sometimes a key won't turn until you jiggle the wheel while trying to turn the key.

Car wont start..after i stuck wet keys in ignition

Give the key-hole a few days to dry out. There are electronics inside the key-hole that sense the key's position and the immobilizer chip within the key. If these short out, or any other circuits with them, the car won't start/run properly.

I have a 1998 Ford Windstar. Got in to drive, turned the key to start and 'snap' something seems to have broke within the ignition lock cylinder... all of the accessories are on... the key...

This happened to to me with my ranger. I went and bought in ignition and a junk yard and no problems after that. That way your not out of a lot of money.

How do you reset "change oil soon" light in a 2006 ford freestar?

Some cars require you to pump the gas pedal a couple of times (2-3) with the ignition switch on (don't start the vehicle). Then turn the ignition switch off then start the vehicle.
