The fuel filter is located under the vehicle on the drivers side. Usually right behind the drivers door. Some times they can be covered with a black plastic housing. Sorry no pics

The fuel filter on a 2006 Silverado is part of the fuel pump module - which also contains the fuel level sender and pump. They are lifetime filters and only need to be replaced in the wake a catastrophic event.
before you drop tank again, check fuses & relay.then disconnect fuel line @ filter turn key to on position should hear fuel pump run and get gas stream out of line. if no flow from line new pump faulty be sure & remove negative battery cable first good luck.
