I tried to fix the problem by replacing the basic...the fuel filter, dme relay, ignition wires and even distributor cap w new spark plugs and wires. Final step is new ignition(get new which is not expensive). I was told this solved another person's starting problem.

1984 porsche 944 starts but wont keep running

Can you keep it running if you increase rpm by pedal? If so then you've got to increase idle. It could also be the idle bypass which is a small orifice that allows air into the carburetor to keep the engine at idle. It could be plugged. It's usually adjustable with a screw to allow more or less air in this increasing or decreasing the idle. See if you can take the screw out and squirt some carb cleaner in there and put the acre back in. See if that does it.

My 944 porsche just stopped while i was driving it??? it had been running great all day. It didn't make a sound just stopped running. It has a new battery. it won't start, the engine won't turn over. I...

have you tried jump starting it?does the starter engage and try to turn the engine over?it's possible your alternator is not working properly and your battery is in a discharged state, could this be the reason you replaced the battery?try turning the engine over by hand to make sure it rotates freely.
