Car drivin through flood

I drove my 540 i bmw through a flood and it turned off now it wont turn on what do you think is the problem

I did exactly the same with my 2006 Petrol 525i. Only a foot of water. Tried to start it - dead. Pushed the car back out and still the same. I experienced alot of electronic errors I'd never seen before - EVL Steering Lock, Airbag, Tension faults. All the other electrics/iDrive all work fine. Every time I push the start button, the engine tries to turn for a fraction of a second, then stops and I immediately get a load of blinking, random lights all lighting up my dash. I spoke briefly to a mechanic and was told there could be water in the engine block - said I'd probably need a new engine!! Any one have any thoughts on this?!

Just drain the oil and fluids even in the tranny cause waters gets in everywhere! period! remove the spark plugs! and dist wires crack engine a few times to pump all the water out of the cylinders then spray some oil in small amounts into each cyl.
put plugs and fresk oil back in and replace!! the ECM/ECU/computer's then next time you reach a flooded road? stop!! think!! and then back up !

What do I think the problem is. The driver is a moron.

How many computers do you think your car has? And you think they're water compatible? Tell your dad you saw advertising for a boat and then the bmw commercial came on and you got them confused.

Just for a quick test. put your laptop and desktop computer in the full bathtub, toss in your cell phone and see which one works after they dry out.

Then think to yourself how much time AND money you saved by trying to float the 540.

If you're lucky you liquid locked the motor and nothing else. this is where water from the flood seeps back in through the pistons from the exhaust and you try to crank start it and totally ruin the engine block by trying to compress liquid.

You car is a giant paper weight.

I drove my 95 750il bmw through a flooded street, and it cut off on me. Now won't start up. Do you have any suggestions?

put it in a warm garage with the hood up and let it dry out.(this is cheaper than ANY alternative.if you aint got a garage and the car was hot when flooded it should dry out within a couple of days.....i hope.

2000 bmw 540 dashboard temperature gauge goes to

When a gauge goes bad, you have to decide if it is the sending unit or the gauge itself. If you unplug and short the wire to the sending unit, the gauge should go to max (one way or the other), and the opposite when the wire is not connected to anything. If that works, then it is probably the sending unit. If that does not work, it is probably the gauge itself.

Hi i got problem with my bmw e39 540 i auto .when engine warm it changes gear late and got a whisle noise .it only does when engine warmed and if i turn engine of and wait for 20 min or less it gets normal...

Look for vacuum leaks, late shifting can be a result of lower than normal manifold vacuum, look for dislodged or broken hoses.

My thought is when you find the whistling, you will have the solution...

1997 BMW M3 3.2 EVO

Your fuel injection pressure is probably leaking down causing gasoline to leak into the cylinders and resulting in a hard hot starting condition due to "flooding" of the engine. Try holding the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor of the car like your trying to go maximum speed down the highway and crank the engine for 10 seconds or less at a time. That tells your computer to enter the "clear flood" mode and stop injecting gas into the engine. Ask your repair shop to measure the fuel pressure and see if the pressure is bleeding off too rapidly.

Drive through flood

Start in the rear; test the battery first; then if all is well turn the key to the '0' key position and test all compotents that should work if all is good there, turn to try to start, if not nothing clicks or turns over then remove the starter and bench test it or take it to Auto Zone...if you have time, check the oil stick for water..Just go ahead and change the oils after you remove the spark plugs...never crank a engine that may have sucked water thru the air filter!!!
