There is a 175 amp fuse on the side of the fuse panel under the hood. Check to make sure it is good. If it is, Then start the car. Pull the negative cable off the battery. If it dies, replace the alternator.
How old is the battery? Have it load tested at a car parts store. It sounds like an old or bad battery, Do you remember where it was bought? Some new batteries fail right away, take it back they will replace it.
Check cable between engine/gearbox and chasis, or bypass this cable during jump starting,by putting the - jump cable on the engine, if it starts your cable between engine and chasis has a bad connection.
This could be an old problem coming back to bite you,,,, ie Flat / Dud battery jump started but still starts and runs (off alternator power) ,,,,, Next day jump started again (in-correctly) but now has damaged Alternator so .................... if the battery is serviceable , check and/or replace the alternator. ! I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 1999 GMC YUKON WITH THE 5.7 ENGINE HAVING TO JUMP START ALL THE TIME TO GET IT RUNNING, THE PROBLEM WITH MINE WAS THE FUEL PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED, EVEN WHEN I REMOVED THE PUMP AND TURNED THE KEY FUEL PUMPED OUT BUT WAS NOT ENOUGH PRESSURE TO GET AND KEEP THE ENGINE RUNNING.I ALSO TRIED STARTER FLUID, THE ENGINE WOULD RUN UNTIL THE FLUID BURNED OFF.SO THE SOLUTION FOR MY TRUCK WAS THE FUEL PUMP AND NOW ITS STARTING LIKE A CHAMP
