Question about 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan
I have a 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan that I had from new, now it has 70K miles. Yesterday while driving the gear stuck in 2nd I think and will not shift and the Check Engine Light came on. I put it in reverse and back in forward but it still stuck in 2nd gear. I drove home about 25 miles in 2nd gear. Today I started the Van and the problem cannot be reproduced, it gone, the transmissions is running like new. Any one know what may be the issue.
I had the same problem, drove home just like you did, took it to my mechanic and he changed the "speed sensor " problem solved. "

Your van will give you the trouble code all by itself. Simply cycle the key on-off-on-off-on and watch the engine light or odometer. In some, the odometer will display the code, in older models, you will have to count the number of times the engine light flashes. Example - two flashes, slight pause, three flashes long pause would be a code 23. Most likely it is the output sensor starting to go bad.
