1997 Dodge GrandCaravan 3.3L v6 (auto) We weren't getting any air out of the heaters. Had the blower motor replaced, now we get air, however the air is not as hot as it should be on high. The fan speeds don't increase once you set it past halfway, instead it just gets really loud with a buzzing and a rattling. Fuses are good. Rear fans worked before we had the front blower motor replaced, now the rear blower doesn't work. they recommended I check the thermostat, I was thinking maybe the blower motor resistor. Do you have any insight or suggestions.

mechanic recommended changing the thermostat, i'm thinking thats just said to get rid of me, however it doesn't get as hot as it should, but it still gets warm, i thought they were either working or not. fan speed is the big issue as it doesn't go past medium, just gets louder, a lot louder. The resistor would be in the firewall isn't it? Behind the glove box, with coils and I look for corrosion on the coils and or base?

  • ryan_carter Nov 23, 2010

The rear blower doesn't work at all. The front works on low to medium speeds and just increases noise on high. If they both run through it would a bad resistor make both not work?

  • Anonymous Nov 23, 2010

a bad resistor will make one do some weird things and there is no way to look at on and tell if its any good...and yes u have the right local.....hope it helps

2003 dodge dakota air conditioning fan has stopped working.

The diagram is for v6. The top wire at blower motor is voltage, the bottom wire is ground. Use a test light and check both voltage and ground. Key on--hvac on. If you have good voltage and ground with no blower action, suspect the blower motor. The blower motor is usually under the passenger side dash.

1992 Dodge Dakota 2wd 3.9L V6 Air conditioning/Heater dosent blow? when i turn the air or the heat on i can hear the compressor kick on but it dosen't blow cold or hot? any help would be appreciated

Roger it sounds like the blower motor is not comming on. There is a resistor network located in the engine compartment on the passenger side mounted to the firewall, that controlls the blower motor. The connections may have corroted or the unit itself is bad. That was the first thing I had to relpace when I got my used 92 Dakota. There is also a 30 amp fuse in the fuse box under the dash board . If that is blown I would suspect the blower motor is seized up or just pulling too much power.

Heater blower motor replacement -1997 Dodge Grand Caravan

Remove the cover plate on the passenger side of the heater box, 3-4 screws.
Unplug the motor assembly, remove 3-4 more screws that hold the motor in place and pull it down from its position. Get an aftermarket motor and installed it in the original housing with the original squirrel cage.
Installation is the reverse of removal.

1997 Dodge ram 2500 deisel. Blower fan wont come on. replaced climate control module and fuse is ok. Is there an inline fuse or relay I'm missing?

if the fuse is ok your next step is to see if you have power at the heater fan switch,if you do then the next thing is the heater blower motor resister it is under the heater assembly, that is what gives you different speeds,
the last is test for power at blower motor to see if it is faulty

Heater blower motor

the heater blower motor is located undr the glovebox there are 3 small bolts holding it in place, 7/32 socket i believe after loosening these you will most likely have to move the wirring harness that goes through the floor to get the motor to drop down. after the you get the motor to drop down there is a large vaccum line that goes into the side of the motor gently pull this out be careful not to pull the other end of the vaccum line loose from inside the car. the is a power plug in the side of the motor that u will need to unplug to free up the blower. because it is hard to see the power plug needs to be pressed down on the top and pulled simaltaniously.
