Brakes I am having trouble getting off the rear rotor to change the brakes. What is the best way to do this?

Bleed the breaks untill you get clean clear fluid out of each one. start with the right rear, left rear, right front, left front. DO NOT let the reservor get low while bleeding. You can suck air into the lines and have the same problem. You need to do this immediatly as your brakeing ability is uncertain and can be un reliable.

Here is what I have found out. I have an 2008 Toyota Tundra 5.7 4x4, and I changed the rear brakes and rotors. No noise prior to service. After installing new rotors, I started getting a metal scraping noise. After $300.00 in diagnostics, I found that the new rotors are rubbing the against the brake shield. The inner lip of the rotor needs to be machined down to avoid this rubbing. See toyota tundra forum.com for pics.

You need to remove the calipers and caliper brackets. Once this is done, the rotors should pull off. Sometimes they will stick and will need the persuasion of a hammer to come off. The rear rotors are also the rear emergency brakes and have drums built into them. If the brake shoes are out far enough, you will have trouble getting the rotors off. In that case, you will need to back the brake shoe adjusters down to make enough clearance for the rotor to come off.

This vehical has drum styal park brake shoes on the inside of the brake rotor so make sure the park brake isn't set and you can turn the rotor. If you can't turn the rotor you will have to look into this first if the park brake is set or sticking you won't get the rotor off if thats ok try spray with penting oil helps a little. I use a 4 or 5 lb sluge hammer and hit the rotor kinds close to the wheel studs about 5 times then hit the outer edge from the back side also works on the outerside. Don't be afread to hit hard I never broke one.

Have you checked the brake fluid level?

Yes, it has rear Disc Brakes, I would suggest to change the rear pads since they have to remove the rear Brake Calipers to remove the rotors and it wouldn't take much more time or labor to replace the pads at that point. That way when your rear rotors are re-installed and your new brake pads are installed your rear brakes should give you longer service life and better stopping power.

the front rotors are warped,usually because the rear brakes are out of adjustment,causing you to over work the front brakes,change rotors and pads,check rear brakes if you need more help get back to me Thanks Ray,Please rate my fix as i strive to be the best

Just remove the rear rotors, bull the straight off, after removing the caliper bracket. It would be a good idea to spray the small brake shoes with brake cleaner. No need to remove anything other than the rotor.

The rear brakes are very easy to change. There is nothing to worry about due to it being a 4-wheel vehicle and you only need to change the rotors if they are at minimum specs(printed on the rotor itself). If you don't have a micrometer to check the rotor thickness, then look at the edge of the rotor for a lip. A tall lip on the edge indicates it is best to change the rotors. Also, if the mileage is over 60k miles or you live in a cold climate(where there is a lot of sand/salt on the roads), it's a good idea to double check your parking brakes. But be careful when removing the rotors, they can hang up on the parking brake pad and potentially pull the pad loose. If the rotors are frozen on, use a lubricant like wd-40 on the center of the rotor and let it soak in, then tap around the outside edge of the rotor/hub area with a hammer to break it free.

must be the after market rotors not a normal problem and do not adjust park brakes to tight at all ,some rubbing noise is normal
