Rover 214si high fuel consumption

Hi please help. i own a m reg rover 214si. it has just over 85k on the clock. within the last few months i have been filling up more often than usual. i dnt really travel outside my home town. apart from going to tesco which is just on the towns border. anyway £20 fuel did last me for 1 week comuting to work and back.and occasional run to elsewhere but lately im going through about £35 a week. i have change the fuel filter recently, oil filter, new alternator and even check tyre pressures what could cause this extra £15 consumption? so far this week i have put £30 in and its on the red. by the way my work place is about 8 miles frommy home. please helpthanks ps this site requested for me to put my model in. i just selected land rover as my model is not listed.

Hi i have a 318i bmw 2001 my fuel consumption is

Last month, my wife complained of high gas usage as well. I suddenly remembered that I had forgotten to change the air filter the last time I did the oil change. It had been over 5 months since I'd put a new one in. So, we got a new air filter, and monitored the usage, and it was back to normal again. Maybe try this?

I have a 4.0 ltr Range Rover V8. What octane level would be the best to use. Norm Julian. projectp76@hotmail.com

because most modern cars have an inbuilt computer,if you use high octane fuel, the engine will adjust accordingly,to check on fuel consumption ,which should be less with high grade, fill tank at least five times to work out your averages.if better, then you have proved my theory....

Super Charger On Range Rover, Better Fuel Consumption?

Yes, but the cost of the supercharger will not pay for itself for most likely however long you own the vicle. In a year you may save 100 dollars and a supercharger is a couple thousand dollars.

Hi , I am considering purchasing a 1986 Land Rover County wagon (110 Defender), the engine is a petrol V8. What sort of fuel consumption should I expect or can you direct me to a www that may have that...

The car you are looking into has the same engine as this car (link) http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/sbs.htm The gas millage on that car would be 12MPG (city), 14MPG (highway) and a combined gas millage of 13 MPG. Hope it helps and please rate the answer if it was helpful to you, thanks!

High gas mileage (15- 20 l per 100km)

try changing the oil also it will cause the engine to burn more fuel with bad oil because it gets hot and evaporates it alot more

Engine runs on when driving along

Sounds like the choke is sticking on, that would also explain the heavy fuel consumption

What are the possible reasons for high fuel consumption?

a low cylinder will cause a reduction in fuel economy. also in the winter months many states oxygenate thier fuel, it helps with emmisions but reduces economy. higher octane fuel usually has less feul economy, drop to the mid grade
