Question about 2004 Pontiac Grand Am

Sometimes won't start - makes no sound at all.

Sometimes my car won't start. When that happens, it makes no sound at all. It is not the battery because the rest of the time, it starts just fine.
I never know when it is going to happen or how long it will go before it will finally start sometimes, I have to let it sit for hours.

I have the very same problem in my 1997 del Sol. I don't every have to do anything but try to start it again several time. Most of the time it starts right up but I worry that one day it won't start at all.

Hi ou_hogfan's,

I have the same problem. What you have to do is put your key in the ignition in the on position for 10 to 15 Min's. When the Security light stops blinking take the key out and restart it. It will start....

Mine ended up not having my foot hard enough on the clutch. Guess there is a switch.

My Camry sometimes won't start nor crank either.

Could be a battery cable connection, faulty starter, or the neutral safety switch. You would need to know if you have battery power at the starter terminals when it fails to crank.

Car won't start, seems to have power, all lights working. when I turn the key nothing happens. this only happens sometimes

Could be a bad alternator.. It may not be holding charge. Or your starter could have failed.

Though I've had the same problem and it was a dead battery in my vehicle. Had enough power, but to keep the car on..

My 2006 chevy colorado is making a clicking sound and won't turn over

Your Main Battery is Flat, get a jump start if its safe or remove the battery and hook it up to a charger. Maybe you left your lights on, or your alternator isnt charging the battery properly when your driving around. Sometimes this can be the bushes located in the alternator.

Sometimes the car won't start- it sounds like the battery is dead or close to it and the wipers start. If I wait it will start or a jump will start it. Why do the wipers start?

First thing to do is to have the battery teasted..Because a battery with low voltage will cause unusual things to happen..Take it to autozone ,,and have the battery load tested and they can also make sure the alternator is charging...You may have two problems going on..If the GEM module is getting low voltage it will cause that to happen...The GEM operates your inside components ,,like the wipers,,and dome light and stuff..

Hello , It sounds like you may have a very strange grounding wire problem. Do you have an alarm with shock sensor by chance? Check all connections around the battery and make sure all black wires are clean , connected tight. Make sure the battery connections are clean , dry and tight as well. Thank you , Quinn

Depends on the sound that it makes when you turn the key over.

Clicking noise...usually the starter

If it sounds like its going to start, but doesnt, most likely the battery.

If you have replaced the battery recently, then its the alternator.

Sometimes there can be oil build up over the spark plugs so it doesnt get the spark to start.

Hope you get it fixed!!
