You need a new transmission, just went bad without worning . I had the same problem. Just get it rebuild at a HONDA ASE Certified machanic shop, honda dealership or purchase a new one and put it in.

Transmission was doing good.it started hesitating OS slipping to go in third and overdrive.I parked it right then the next morning it would not shift out of first gear.what could it be

What type of vehicle? Dodge truck? Test for transmission codes, could be shift solenoids or governor pressure sensor. Is the fluid level low? What the the transmission fluid just serviced? If so, is the right fluid in the transmission, was it overfilled? Overfilling transmissions causes seal failures. Have transmission pressure tested, they can test operations of clutch packs for all the gears to notify you of seal failure. Not all transmision shops do that test anymore., good luck

I have a 2001 vovlo s80 with the codes p1618 p0705 po733 how can i fix

PO705 is Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Malfunction. PO733 is Incorrect 3rd Gear Ration Information. P1618 means that the ECU and the TCM are not communicating properly. PO705 & PO733 can be related to P1618. Check the wiring going to the transmission. Look for a pinched wire from the car being put on a rack or possibly an accident you may have had recently. If you can find no problems with the wiring or connections then it is time to see a professional transmission expert. It may just be that the transmission has an internal problem.

What causes the car to be unable to switch gear, and how can I resolve that problem?

Fluid, transmission fluid, especially the right type,For a electronic controlled transmission, youll need to check the engine control and engine computer for proper operation there are many sensor that provide input to the transmission control. Heres some mechanical the torque convertor, must be able to push fluid out, the transmission oil pump must be able to supply the torque convertor and give proper pressure, for valves to operate, then there are the gears, that has to transfer power.Okay lets keep it simple there is a PRNDL switch that can fail and it wont allow a gear change, Then there is TPS throttle position sensor that allows the gear change, then and output speed sensor that allows a gear change. There are factor that contribute to proper gear change and there all simple, First and foremost it fluid check fluid condition is it foaming, its a seal problem, is it pink its contaminated,is it burnt, (black) the clutches are worn.

Good Evening, I have a dumb question. have you cleared any current or history codes in the transmission? They will default with codes in the system. Also make note on what they are. If any and we can go from there, and yes tcm would be the next place to go but more info is best as far as codes and such.

Dodge intrepid new solinoid still won't shift the gear to next.

I believe these models have a transmission temperature sensor. If the transmission gets to hot it puts the car into limp mode until it cools down. A faulty sensor may be your problem. Also you may consider installing a transmission fluid cooler. Most cars have the transmission lines routed through the radiator to cool the fluid but radiators get hot. You want to keep the fluid as cool as possible. Ask your local parts supplier about a transmission cooler. There like 30 bucks but can save you a rebuild later :)

My 03 Kia Spectra will not go into gear. I want

the fluid is drained by removing the transmission pan located under the car. make sure you buy a transmission filter kit so you can change the filter and gasket. the trans fluid is added to the dipstick tube, where you have located the dipstick.

Put car in gear but dont have anything took line off to ratiator pumping fluid out there all linkage looks hooked up what could it be

You said it is pumping fluid out,it will most likely be low of transmission fluid, look for a broken transmission line,or hose.

While some people will tell you to change or flush the transmission fluid and see if it gets better. I would like to warn you it probably won't help much on your car. The Hyundai's transmissions have a high failure rate and the fluid changes and repair in a bottle fixes won't change anything. Just check if the fluid level is correct and make sure that the wires that go to the transmission are on clean and tight with no burns or shorts. Remember the transmission shifts gears based on info from the TPS sensor and a speed sensor. So if the CEL was coming on and you didn't scan the computer, it might just be a bad sensor and not the transmission. Take it to a Hyundai dealer not a Transmission shop.
