    Hi Wildbill49

i did go and check all of the things you mentioned, and all was fine, the problem was the coil, as Mazda/Ford supplied me with a brand new coil that was faulty, i mean realy, some places here in S.A the service is up to no good, and even the new spares are faulty, the Mazda that i have i turbo charged it when i bought it barnd new in 2001, so what i did was i bought the MSD Racing coil, and it works perfectly, that is when i realized that the new coil was faulty, i took it back and was refunded my money, thank you very much for your help, just by the way it is a MAZDA RUSTLER Bakkie 160i 2001 model it has the B6 engine.

Hi Gerrie1974-

WildBill49 here......Not knowing the specific year and version of your Mazda, I cannot give you a specific part at fault, but I can help you. I am assuming we're talking about an electronic distributor single coil ignition system

If the spark is weak directly out of the coil (with a known good coil hooked up with correect polarity), then the problem is in the spark trigger module... There is a variety of designs, but the basic components remain the same. This is the part of the ignition system that replaces the breaker points. It consists of two parts - a magnetic spark trigger sensor, and a spark signal amplifier/controller. these are sometimes combined into one ignition module.

Replace this module, and spark from the coil should be strong! If it is still weak, reverse the two wires to the coil.

Weak spark at the plug wire with the above good indicates distributor cap/rotor replacement time...

Gerrie, I hope this is what you are looking for, best of luck, and if you feel my advice worthy, please rate it!!!

Thanx-
-WB

    Gerrie-

I posted a comment back at you (rather lengthy) that disappeared into the ether.... Sounds like you have enough snap to not need us old dudes!!! Next time, tell me about the engine mods, okay? I'm flyin' blind here and YOU are my eyes, ears, nose, fingers... etc., etc... I can only be as good as the information you provide me... And you do better than most! Are you seeing any winter weather in SA or are you still in the tropics? And what brought you down there... business I presume...

I used to work on and race Mazdas, back when the rotaries were all the vogue, then went to VW's, BMW's, GM, and Ferraris...

Now I just go to the races and watch... hard to do!

Don't hesitate to ask if you have any other problems, and good luck...

    Thanx-

    WB

Well, not being familiar with a Mazda Rustler bakkie, I googled it... I know realize that SA stands for South Africa (not America) and the Rustler bakkie appears unique to SA!!! My bad!!!

I have a 1997 mazda rustler 160i when the motor is hot or just standing in the sun its does not start in the morning and evening its starts no problem only when hot has this problem what can it be

An ignition coil is more than likely your problem. When the car is not running pull one spark plug wire and a plug and insert plug into the wire hold plug end on ground area. Have someone crank engine and check for spark. If no spark, replace ignition coil.

Fuel does not come from the tank on amazda rustler bakkie 160i 2001 model hence the car cannot start

Either your fuel pump has died, make sure you check all fuses and wiring for shorts, or the screen on the pump is clogged and needs to be cleaned. Most likely the pump needs replaced and the t ank will have to be lowered to acces the pump.
