Chrysler Cirrus Air Conditioner Cools Sometimes and Sometimes not

What would cause my AC to work one time, where it cools, then another day it does not cool. Then on a day when it does cool, it only works for a short part of my trip, then it does not cool anymore.

I had the same problem. It turned out that the clutch on the compressor was not turning all the time. Sometimes the compressor clutch would turn and other times not. I went to a Chrysler Dealer and they installed a new compressor and clutch. That is all a combined unit, so you can't just replace the clutch. Now the air conditioning is running great, and cooling great in the hot weather. The repair will run you about $800 , depending on the cost of the compressor plus labor to install.

Sasha, I had exactly the same problem. Some days the AC would work, and other days it would not work, and sometimes it would work, then stop, then work again. It was like intermittent air conditioning. I finally took it to a Chrysler dealer. It turned out that the clutch mechanism, which is attached to the compressor, would sometimes spin and other times it would not spin and run. When the clutch mechanism worked, it would kick in the compressor and the AC would cool. When the clutch would not kick in, the AC would only blow warm or hot air. The Chrysler dealer put in a new compressor and clutch. It is all in one unit. the clutch is on the end of compressor, so you can't just fix the clutch. You replace both the compressor/clutch piece. Once the new equipment was installed, the AC worked beautifully, and was cooling everytime I turned it on. This repair at a Chrysler dealer will run you about $800 which is the price of both the compressor/clutch new part and labor.

I had this problem along with my fuel gauge dropping to empty and back up to actual amount and tach worked sometime and didn't other times. I ended up replacing the Engine Control Unit (near positive battery terminal on firewall. If you read the codes out and they all have something to do with low voltage, this will solve the problem.

Should be in the bottom of the heater box and drain to the outside of vehicle.

2004 chevy aveo when i turn ac on it runs hot and when i turn ac off it cools down

The AC puts allot of heat load on the engine so of course it will run hotter but not overheat the engine, if that happens you may have a clogged radiator.

Have a 2000 Chrysler cirrus LXI 6. Just had the timing belt replaced 4 days ago and now its starting to overheat. It only gets hot when im sitting still. but goes down while driving (assuming its the...

sounds like the cooling fan(s) are not working. possible a disconnected plug near radiator . my guess is the mech forgot to plug it back in. check around the radiator for any plugs that are just hanging loose . also check the fuses . there may be one for cooling fan and see if it is burned out.

Air conditioner

The squeeling is the belt because the air compresor is likely seizing. At idle it can't turn the compressor, in motionthe compressor probably turns and cools the air. Most air conditioners come on when the defroster is on.

My air conditioning blows cool sometimes and other times it doesn't what can cause this to happen? It doesnt stop blowing it just blows hot air. I have already had it charged. It's a 2005 Chevy Equinox.

Who charged it? If the system was completely empty when it was charged, it will not cool. You need to vaccum it down with a vaccum pump. Change your dryer and orfice tube. Then vaccum for a long time. You can rent the tools and instructions to do this from autozone for a fully refundable deposite. Hope this helps.

AC SOMETIMES COOLS

It is possible that the AC compressor clutch cycling is getting stuck in the off mode, this can be caused by a sticking expansion valve or a defective AC clutch control relay. One note u said u added more refrigerant to the system, if u over charged it you may cause damage to the compressor a $400 part and equal labor to replace, it might be a good idea to have the system charge checked by a shop that does AC work.

Engine is over heating and blowing air into coolant resivor and boiling coolant

The blowing of air into the coolant resevour is caused by a leaking head gasket. What's happening is the cylinder is blowing air into the cooling system causing this to happen.

Why does the Air Conditioning work sometimes and sometimes not?

I would replace the AC low pressure cycling switch, this is the most common cause of your problem.
