I've got a 99 Chevy Silverado Z-71 with 140,000 miles on the 5.3 liter moter. Engine runs great, but water is getting mixed in with oil. I have to add water about once a week, but never see any signs of leakage. The oil is soapy looking, and a lot of sludge builds up in the oil pan. Are you aware of any gaskets that are known to leak in this model? I don't think it's the head gasket because it doesn't smoke or run bad in any way. Thanks for the help!

You have a cracked head most likely there was a batch of heads with a castech casting mark that caused some problems just like what you describe. here are some pics of what to look for.I've got a 99 Chevy - tripletauto.jpg

1988 GMC oil and water

From what you are describing, I would say that the head gasket could be the cause. You have water and oil passages that run through the heads. If the gaskets have deteriorated, it will allow the oil and water to mix.

99 silverado oil presure problem oil pump in front of engine

They may be right. Too much clearance on the bearings is where you lose oil pressure, or so I've heard. If you bought it used, someone may have once run old, dirty oil in it too long, or let it run low. You could drop the oil pan and check the bearings or replace them.

I have a 1994 Chevy C1500 w/ 4.3 liter and my plugs are fouling out about every 500 miles or less and everything else maintanence wise I've replaced resently. Can someone give an idea on what need

Does the truck run right? Does it smell real gassy, fuel mileage go south? If it is fouling plugs that fast it either has to be burning a lot of fuel or oil. Is there a check engine light on? Engine wore out, burning a lot of oil. Fuel injector stuck, using a lot of gas. Air filter dirty, making it burn way rich. I would think this truck would really smell bad if it is fouling out the plugs that fast.

How do I get rid of the change oil message on dashboard. I had a 2000 Chevy Silverado 5.3 liters and just changed the oil but still get the message. And, is it better to change the oil every 5,000 miles or...

Turn the key to the on position. Do not start. Pump the gas pedal all the way to the floor 3 times. This will reset the oil life.
Please rate by checking one of the four thumbs ups.
Thanks! Have a GREAT DAY!

2005 hyundai sonata is running hot while sitting at stop lights

Check your fuse and relay to the radiator fan, There going to be high amp fuse so most likely will be in the fuse box by the battery. If the fuse and relay is good, check the wire harness connection at the fans. The other thing to is to run the engine and turn on your A/C, the A/C should over ride the switch and turn on the fans. If the fans do turn on, inspect the radiator fluid, make sure it's at it's level and if it's never been serviced. It may be time, Orange antifreeze has a life of 150,000 miles or 5 years and the green antifreeze has a life of 30,000 miles and 1 year. The thermostat may also gone bad but i don't think at this case since your car only heats up while your stopped. If everything is working (fan) just replace the antifreeze 50/50 mix (Antifreeze/water), Water has great heat transfer but boils so antifreeze is added, and 100% antifreeze does not have great heat transfer and will gel when heated so the two have to be mixed 50/50 and if your not sure how to mix the two. You can buy them 50/50 mix and the capacity to your car total fill is 7.3 liter 4 cylinder/ 8.6 liter 6 cylinder.

Water in oil

Hello, it seems that you have intake gaskets leaking. I'll bet you have the vortec 350. This is a common problem with the vortec, Gm uses plastic intake gaskets and they blow out over time usually to the externally but yours is internally. It is a pretty easy fix for the average mechanic to do. Thank you

Cooling leaking inside engine

If it does there may be a recall on it. Always check with the dealer before doing a big repair. Even though the truck is old they may still do it for free.
