Question about 1996 Chevrolet K1500
My 96 chevy 1500 has 124000 miles on it. runs and idles fine. i have cleaned the motor with engine flush multiple times, have done a full tune up, have a k&n air filter, and put a throttle body spacer on it. it gets about 10 miles to the gallon as it sits now but my friend has the same exact truck except for the rear gear (mine is 3.73 and his is 3.42) and he can still pull more than me. Im getting ready to take it to the gm dealer to have them put it on the computer to check the timing and any other possible problem.other than that i dont know what else to do.
Check for vacuum leaks! Check for exhaust restriction. Have the timing checked in case the timing chain is worn enough to throw the timing beyond what the ECM can compenstate for. What trannies do you and your friend have? If he has a standard and you have a sick automatic, that could be your problem.
